Just ask! 1881 1ed Jules Verne Tribulations of Chinaman CHINA Opium Extraordinary Voyages "In a very real sense, Jules Verne is one of the pioneers of the space age." ― Frank Borman, Daytona Beach Morning Journal, 1969. A rare, late 19th-century first edition of Jules Verne's "Tribulations of a Chinaman in China". The first edition was published in 1879 and is part of Verne's famous "Extraordinary Voyages". This book is similar in style to 'Around the World in Eighty Days' but is known to be more humorous than his best-known novel. This book discusses, in a satirical view, the British trading opium in China and is filled with illustrations depicting adventures, shipwrecks, and sea battles. This First illustrated American edition was also the first to be published in decorative cloth bindings in different colors. No priority has been given to the order of the colored bindings.
