A few fly-leaves detached. No loss of pages. Leather fragile . Condition as seen in the photos .More photos on demand. EUSTATHIUS (Archbishop of Thessalonica, latter half of 12th century). Commentarii in Homeri Iliadem et Odysseam, in Greek. Edited by Nicolaus Majoranus. Rome: Antonio Blado, 1542-50. EDITIO PRINCEPS of the Homeric commentaries by 'the most learned man of his age' (Oxford Companion to Classical Lit.), printed together with the Iliad and the Odyssey. The commentaries deal with the history, geography, language, and mythology in the Homeric epics. Extracts from the commentaries had appeared in the Aldine Thesaurus Cornucopiae (1496, see lot 68). A new Greek type was designed by Joannes Honorius for Cardinal Marcello Cervini to print (uniquely) volumes II-IV (cf. A.
