The case provides a backdrop to the sad fate of the all the characters linked to the case, with the only beneficiaries being the lawyers. As with many of Dickens' novels, it was first published in monthly installments then issued as a book. The book has the following first issue points: Page 19 line 6 "elgble" Page 209 line 23 "chair" instead of "hair" Page 275 line 22 "counsinship" instead of "cousinship" Page 529 line 32 "picter" 10 dark plates present Bleak House by Charles Dickens UK First Edition, published in 1853 by Bradbury & Evans Hardback three quarter leather binding, raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. 625 printed pages, no dust jacket. The book is illustrated by H.K. Browne (aka "Phiz") 38 plates in the text and a 2 plate frontispiece, making, 40 plates in total.
