It is 32 pages long and contains the full Will of General George Washington printed from the record of the County Court of Fairfax, Alexandria . It has its original paper wraps. The document was originally bound together with string which is no longer present. The original title page is missing. There is a chip to the front wrap. A very rare copy of an important historical document. Synopsis In July 1799, just six months before his death, George Washington prepared his will alone without, as he said any "professional character'' being "consulted.'' Within the month following his death, his executors presented this will for probate to the Fairfax County Court, in whose custody it remains. A few days thereafter the will was printed in Alexandria and circulated throughout the country in pamphlet form. The lucid and powerful prose of the text of the will displays at its best the distinctive style of writing that Washington had developed through the years. ---------- About the Author---------- George Washington (1732 - 1799) was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and Founding Father who also served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797.
