John stockdale - Piccadilly London: 1802. Hi, I have for sale a group of uniformly bound rare Antique Books published over 200 years ago in 1802. The Parliamentary Register or History of the proceedings and debates of the House of Commons Containing the most interesting speeches and motions, accurate copies of the most remarkable letters and papers of the most material evidence, petitions, &c laid before and offered to the house. The books are numbered on the spine in red - and cover particular years as below (1) 1774 1775 (2) 1775 (3) 1775 1776 (6) 1777 (7) 1777 1778 (8) 1778 (9) 1777 1778 (10) 1778 1779 (14) 1779 1780 (15) 1779 1780 (16) 1780 (17) 1780 (originally there would have been 17 books in the complete set) I am not a book expert but considering there age I think they are in great condition, but please study photos Books are soundly bound in brown leather with gold embossing, print is very clear with no browning that I can see. Each book measures 21.8cm by 13.9cm You will see on one of the photos that there is a crest and the name 'The right Honerable Charles Bathurst' Bathurst was a prominent politician of the time (born 1754 died 1831) Holding posts such as Treasurer of the navy, Secretary at war Chancellor of the duchy of Lancaster As well as a fascinating read (I have photographed one extract relating to the debate on the merits of our navy's cannon for example) they are a great insight into our political past , a great set of rare collectable / antiquible books in excellent condition Will be carefully package and sent by courier with tracking.
