XCVIII. 12mo, [8], 589 pages. Engraved frontispiece portrait of the Duchesse de la Bourgogne, to whom Leonard dedicates the edition. Contemporary red leather gilt with Duc Philppe I d'Orleans crest on covers (Olivier 2566), and his gilt monogram in three compartments of the spine, alternating with fleurs de lis and the title. All edges gilt; some rubbing, some wear at the corners, and some browning. The Duke of Orleans was younger brother of Louis XIV, the Sun King, and second in line to the kingship.
