Robert Burns
1st Ed Robert Burns. Edinburgh 1787. Poems Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect
Edinburgh: William Creech, 1787. Very good. Closed the octavo measures 8 1/8" x 5" x 1 3/8". After the unaffordable Kilmarnock edition, this is the one to have. It's the FIRST Edinburgh edition. To be a first the Duke of Roxburgh must be misspelt "Boxburgh" as in picture 10 & page 163 must have the word "Skinking". Skinking means watery & for the second run it was incorrectly corrected to read "Stinking". Be sure this is the first run of the first Edinburgh edition, the first print after the fore-mentioned Kilmarnock edition. Handsomely bound & tooled by Miviere & Son with gilt edges to the pages, condition is really rather good. The last picture shows some mild staining to the hand made paper & "twx first Edinburgh edition £750.00 is written in pencil so can be erased. You're bound to find the odd mark here & there but overall it's a good copy. With Christmas coming, treat someone special. Sorry but UK ONLY. P&P within the UK £7.40 (Special Delivery). [Attributes: First Edition]
