The Generalship of Ulysses S. Grant- signed
Dodd, Mead and Company, 1929. Condition: Very Good. Rare-One of a Kind-Unique and inscribed and autographed book which is a unique piece of United States history. This book is titled, "The Generalship of Ulysses S. Grant" which was written by Colonel J.F.C. Fuller. It was published by Dodd, Mead & Company(New York) in 1929 and is a First Edition with the same date on the title and copyright pages with no additional printings listed. In quite scarce very good dust jacket with some edge ware, small chips, not priced clipped. It is bound in a navy blue cloth with gilt wording and decorations. It contains 452 pages including index and is illustrated with maps and plans. This beautiful book is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by U. S. Grant 3rd and is also SIGNED by Ida Honore Grant who was Ulysses S. Grant's daughter-in-law (married to Frederick Dent Grant-oldest son of President Ulysses S. Grant). To make it even more special it is inscribed to General Albert J. Bowley who according to the Arlington National Cemetery website was Aide-to-Camp to Major Frederick Grant 1906-1910. The inscription reads as follows:"Gen. ALbert J. Bowley with best wishes for a Merry Christmas and recollections of the delightful association and friendship of many years, Ida Honore Grant & U.S. Grant 3rd, Washington, D.C. Dec. 25, 1929." Condition: Very minor scraping to front board, light rubbing to corners, minor foxing otherwise clean and binding tight. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
