1930. Condition: Acceptable. PLEASE SEE DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS - The book is in overall Fair to Good Minus used condition with issues. Like most copies of this work, the spine is detached and was previously taped, the tape has since been removed and the majority of the spine is present. The latter part of the book has damp stains to the lower right corner, prior owner's name on the front paste down, foxing and age toning to some of the pages, no other writing, no odors. Would benefit from a professional restoration to reback the the spine, the text block itself remains intact, please see images. (GS2-905). California Surfriders - (Privately Published in a Limited Edition of Which This Book is #337) by John Heath "Doc" Ball (Not Signed) Estate sale find, this work is a classic among serious surf memorabilia collectors and is extremely difficult to find in any condition. Limited to approximately 510 copies, it is unknown how many have survived over the years. Considered a masterpiece of the time, California Surfriders, showed sturdy men and women enjoying a nearly pristine California coast from La Jolla to Santa Barbara, and on up to Santa Cruz and Pacifica: beach parties, hardly any traffic along the Pacific Coast Highway along expanses that were still open and undeveloped. Doc Ball was tremendously influential in the growth of surfing in California, especially between the 1930's and 1950's.
