First edition. Folio, illustrated with a frontispiece and three engraved plates, endpapers a little creased and age-toned, the frontispiece, title page and the next few pages slightly wrinkled at the margins, otherwise a spectacularly clean copy internally, contemporary full calf, raised bands to the spine, rebacked at some much earlier point with the original spine laid down, a little worn at the edges and with the surface rather worn and broken but still very sound and with a tremendous character. {Blanche Henrey 1101}. [Miller was chief gardener at the Chelsea Physic Garden from 1722[3] until he was pressured to retire shortly before his death in 1771. He corresponded with other botanists, and obtained plants from all over the world, many of which he cultivated for the first time in England and is credited as their introducer. His knowledge of living plants, for which he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, was unsurpassed in breadth in his lifetime.]. First Edition. Full-Leather. Very Good.
