The American Distiller or The theory and practice of distilling, according to the latest discoveries and improvements, including the most approved methods of constructing stills, and of rectification by Michael Krafft 1804 Philadelphia Printed for Thomas Dobson by Archibald Bartram, Printer Generally regarded as the first book published on distilling in America, and almost and certainly the rarest. Complete with the 2 fold-out plates. With a dedicatory letter to Thomas Jefferson, which it would seem was not included in all copies (?), an author's statement asserting his patents and marketing his services, and an errata page in addition to table of contents. [8], [1-9], 10-151, [22], 152-219 p. Text appears unmarked, though with what looks like a few neat cataloguing notations on dedication page. Covers have some rubbing and scuffs but a nice patina overall. Front board is split along spine but remains (somewhat tenderly) attached.
