- Antique print : 'Geneva, Genf'. (Geneva.) Extremely rare view of Geneve, Switzerland. With legend. Original copperplate engraving on a verge type hand laid paper. Description: Published ca. 1700. Possibly from the extremely rare 'Galerie Agreable du Monde', published by Pieter van der Aa in Leiden, The Netherlands, 1729.Artists and Engravers: Pieter van der Aa was born 1659 in Leyden, Holland. He started his own book publishing business when he was twenty-three. Within fifty years in his business, he published a huge amount of highly decorative maps and atlases. His "Nouvel Atlas" was reissued by Covens & Mortier. He died 1733 in Leyden. Condition: Excellent. General age related toning and occasional light staining from handling as visible on image.
