ALDRICH, Thomas Bailey
Judith of Bethulia
Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1904. First edition. Fine in a very good example of the very uncommon printed, French-folded dustwrapper with some chipping and loss to the portion of the jacket that folds over the top and bottom page edges. An epic dramatic poem that was the basis for two films, most importantly D.W. Griffith's 1914 version, which was his first feature length film, the first of his "epics, " and the film that laid the groundwork for his future spectaculars. The budget shocked the Biograph film company, and Griffith was soon let go, to the eventual benefit of all of filmdom. Exceptionally uncommon in jacket. Fine in Very Good jacket. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
