Unpag. publication including pictorial frontispiece, decorative title, index leaf, and (2) pp. "Memoria", followed by 60 engraved plates depicting the lively street life of Venice in the mid-eighteenth century, with various craftsmen, merchants, artisans, laborers, and street entertainments, each plate with a rhyming verse in the Venetian dialect identifying the figures, later (19th cent.?) English translations pasted below each plate impression. Occasional light spotting and smudges, foxing to orig. flyleaves. Later 19th-century three-quarter calf, the spine, hinges and corners scuffed and worn. Folio. Venice 1785. Ex-libris John Pierpont Morgan, small armorial plate on front pastedown. The present copy is a well-preserved edition of Zompini's best known work, with wide margins and fresh impressions.
