Vol. 1: 1854 [135 p.] + additional writings [ccviii p.] Inscribed by Dr. Lees on front endpaper: "To my esteemed friend, J. H. Raper Esq. of Bolton; a token of private worth + public services in a common cause. F. R. Lees Christmas, 1859." Vol 2: 1853, [207 p.], + "Tirosh Lo Yayin: The Wine Question Considered in an Entirely Novel Point of View [clx p.] Owner signature of Dr. Lees on front endpaper: "Dr Lees, Kent House, Meanwood, near Leeds. December 20th, 1854. Vol. 3: 1857, 164 p. + "various appendices" [ccxvi p.]. Vol. 4: 1856, 334 p., + "One Hundred Objections to a Maine Law; Being a Sequel to the 'Argument' of the United Kingdom Alliance for the Legislative Prohibition of the Liquor Traffic" [128 p]. Vol. 4 contains a photograph of Lees with American temperance orator Neal Dow, signed at bottom by both men. Some slight discoloration to leather on vols. 3 and 4, light wear at heads and tails of spines. All text blocks near fine. An extremely rare set, beautifully bound.
