Hamilton was a Member of the British Homoeopathic Society and Physician to the London Homoeopathic Hospital. Each finely illustrated plate is accompanied by text which gives the history, description, geographical distribution, parts used in medicine, mode of preparation, poisonous effects, medical (homoeopathic) uses, clinical observations, and antidotes for each plant.
