THESE PORTFOLIOS WERE SOLD BY SAHLIN TO COLLEAGUES AND OTHER PRINTERS, IN TODAY'S TERMS THEY COST A MONTH'S WAGES FOR MOST PEOPLE. THE PORTFOLIO CONSISTS OF 20 LEAVES OF ROYCROFT WORKS IN THAT PERIOD, STARTING WITH A PARCHMENT BOOKLET HAND-ILLUMINATED TITLED "GUTENBERG". EACH PAGE CONSISTS OF EXAMPLES OF ROYCROFT PRINTING OF THAT PERIOD, SOME INCREDIBLY ELABORATE. A FEW EXAMPLES OF WHICH INCLUDE: THE 25TH ANNUAL ROYCROFTERS CONVENTION PROGRAM FOR 1920; PERSONALIZED CHRISTMAS GREETINGS; WONDERFUL ELABORATE LETTERHEADS; MOTTO SHEETS; EXAMPLES OF ROYCROFT ARTWORK AND THINKING OF THE PERIOD; AND A LEAFLET WITH SAHLIN'S "DEVICE" OR TRADEMARK AS A TYPOGRAPHICAL DESIGNER EXPLAINING THE MEANING OF ITS VARIOUS PARTS. THE LAST PAGE NOTES THAT THE PORTFOLIO IS COPY NUMBER 5 OF 33 AND IS SIGNED BY SAHLIN HIMSELF.
