Scott Fitzgerald. This book is an incredible find that contains no internal writing or previous owners name. Binding is tight with the slightest tilt. Pages are textually complete, solid hinges, and no discoloration to the paste downs as usually seen in this era of books. All points of the book are sharp with no evidence of bumping. No frays, and minimal evidence of shelf wear. Dark Green boards and Spine display a deep even color all around. Gold lettering of the Title and Authors name at the top of the spine are good (see photos). Internally, Pages, End papers, and Paste Downs are clean and bright with a small Bookseller tag. First published by Charles Scribner's Sons in April 1925, The Great Gatsby received mixed reviews and sold poorly; in its first year, the book sold only 20,000 copies. Fitzgerald died in 1940, believing himself to be a failure and his work forgotten. However, the novel experienced a revival during World War II, and became a part of American high school curricula and numerous stage and film adaptations in the following decades.
