LABACCO, Antonio
1552 Labacco Architecture ROME Temple Hadrian Trajan Angelo Portus Illustrated
Rome: Antoine Lafréry, ca, 1552. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. Antonio Labacco was a 16th-century Italian architect who is best remembered for his treatise on architecture of Ancient Rome. 'Appartenente a l'Architetura' is one of the most important works of classical architecture and features impressive, full-page, folding and double-page engravings. First published in 1552, Labacco constantly edited and changed the work, including the illustrations, from edition to edition. This folio printing includes views of Temple of Hadrian, the plan for the Temple of Trajan, St. Angelo's Castle, and an incredible double-folding page map of the Portus, or Port of Trajan.
