London: Egerton, 1815. In excellent condition. William Thorn (1781-1843) Memoir of the Conquest of Java; with the subsequent operations of the British Forces, in The Oriental Archipelago. To which is subjoined, a statistical and historical sketch of Java; being the result of observations made in a tour through the country; with an account of its dependencies. London: for T.Egerton, 1815 (310 x 240mm). All 35 plates, including 17 engraved maps, 18 aquatints bound at the rear of the volume, extra illustrated with the ten (10) wonderful color costume plates from 'The History of Java' (1817) by William Daniell for a total of 45 plates. One of the aquatints of Batavia was bound opposite the title page (hence some offsetting) but has now been rebound at the rear of the volume with the rest of the aquatints, a folding map of Java bound in the front on the volume. Finely bound in modern red morocco with gilt decoration, marbled end papers, a beautiful copy. Three copies available online from $4100 (incomplete copy), $10,800, $11,100, none extra illustrated.
