SIGNED by Mary Heebner on the colophon. Fine. Mary Heebner only muses upon consequential subjects. In the late summer of 1995, Heebner spent three weeks in Iceland; instead of reading fiction or sagas, Heebner found herself reading geology texts. She learned that while the island of Iceland is 16 to 18 million years old, it was only occupied by humans in 850 CE. She trekked across land that was only 500 years old, full of minerals and redolent with stunning colors, chartreuse, ochre, cobalt green, viridian and violet. The original text and abstract artwork in this portfolio reflects the feelings evoked on the artist’s visit to this new land; the artwork is suitable for framing.

Two typed letters signed, each one leaf of royal stationery, measuring 8-1/4 by 11-1/2 inches, typed and signed on the recto, with two matching envelopes of royal stationery. WITH: White porcelain plate, measuring 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches square, with gold and blue designs. Housed in the original 9 by 9 inch burgundy presentation box with royal cipher on cover; housed in hinged wooden box measuring 11 by 11 inches. $10000.Two typed letters signed by King Abdullah II of Jordan to U.S. Congressman Charles William (Bill) Young of Florida, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, discussing the Middle East peace process and Jordan's central role in it, together with a beautiful porcelain plate given by the King to Young as a gift. The first of these letters was written shortly after the death of King Hussein, Abdullah's father. Both are addressed to Charles William (Bill) Young, United States Representative from Florida from 1971 to 2013, who was Chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee. The first letter, dated June 21, 1999 and on royal stationery, reads in part: ""My Dear Friend"" [handwritten], On behalf of the government and people of Jordan, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the warm welcome you extended to me and my delegation during my trip to Washington last month. The support that Congress has shown to Jordan and to my late father His Majesty King Hussein over the past several years, as well as during the transition stage following the passing of King Hussein had been appreciated by all Jordanians… the lack of progress in the Middle East peace process, which slowed down our plans to make it through the challenging transition successfully, has rendered your support more crucial. I received with much appreciation and gratitude your letter of May 20, 1999 informing me of your decision to appropriate $100 million in additional military and economic assistance for Jordan in FY99 and of your Committee's intention to consider favorably the remaining $200 million in subsequent years… [handwritten] Yours Always, [signature].""The second letter, dated May 13, 2002 and also on royal stationery, reads in part ""My Dear Friend [greeting handwritten], I am writing to express my gratitude for the time that you availed for our meeting last week. The discussion that we had on the Middle East situation, and the urgent need to resume the peace process with a clear defined outcome was very useful. Rest assured that Jordan will spare no effort to help the United States in leading the way towards a better future for all peoples in the Middle East, one of peace, security, and stability. I am also grateful for your continued support of Jordan at this crucial period…We count on your support in bringing back the reduced levels of assistance to Jordan in the 2002 supplement bill at Congress. This would assist us to meet the expectations at this crucial period when Jordan, more than ever, is playing its traditional moderating and stabilizing role…[handwritten] Yours Always, [signature].""         Typed letters signed. WITH: Porcelain plate

1999. Signed. KING ABDULLAH II OF JORDAN. Typed letters signed. WITH: Porcelain plate. No place/Washington, D.C., June 21, 1999 / May 13, 2002. This would assist us to meet the expectations at this crucial period when Jordan, more than ever, is playing its traditional moderating and stabilizing role…[handwritten] Yours Always, [signature]."" The porcelain plate, made by ""United Trading for Porcelain & Art Co.—Rosenthal"" and decorated by ""The Institute of Traditional Islamic Arts, Jordan,"" is highly decorated in gold and blue with a verse from the Qur'an, Surah 11:115 in Arabic in center of plate. On the verso is the royal cipher, ""The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan / 2003/2004"" and the English translation of the Qur'an verse: ""Unto Allah belongs the East and the West: Withersoever ye turn, there is Allah's countenance. For Allah is all embracing, all knowing."" Fine condition.

        LEGENDS: THE GUNSLINGER ORIGINAL LITHOGRAPH

Michael Whelan Gallery 1999 - LEGENDS: THE GUNSLINGER, Michael Whelan Gallery, 1999, as new, original lithograph for the anthology LEGENDS depicting the 'Gunslinger' walking through a door/portal towards the 'Dark Tower' in the background. This 20" by 30" image is matted and framed and ready for display (and thus larger than the dimensions given). The gallery produced 500 such images SIGNED by artist Michael Whelan of which this is number 92. However, this copy is also SIGNED by author Stephen King making it a dual SIGNED rarity. As far as we aware, this is the first time this lithograph SIGNED by both author and artist has ever been offered on the market place. Furthermore, we have no knowledge of any other copies extant, although we would not be chagrinned to learn that our copy, while perhaps exceedingly rare, may not be unique. (By unique, we mean the old definition: one of a kind. For reasons being that English is a living, growing and changing language, the word unique has taken up other definitions as well; such as different, unusual, special. We hate this---) Postage to be determined. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
