Francois Villon; Suite des XII Burins d'Abram Krol.

Chez a Krol, Paris 1995 - First edition. Examplaire "A" of an edition limited to 24 copies, signed by the artist. This copy also presented by Krol to Emmanuel Navon: "Examplaire "A" reserve a Emmanuel Navon, Paris le 6 Fevrier, 1995." In point of fact this is not copy A as that copy is listed in the colophon as bearing 6 of the original copper plates and three original pencil sketches. Navon became Krol's dealer late in Krol's life and Krol apparently was very appreciative. No doubt he had previously sold copy A but he wanted to give Navon a special copy and mark it Examplaire "A" to celebrate their new friendship. To this effect, Krol has written beneath the first plate: Examplaire unique "A" - aquarelle a la main par le graveur, A. Krol." Thus this is the only copy of this work which has been hand-colored in watercolor by the engraver. Four leaves bearing the title, colophon and explanations of each plate, and all 12 copper engravings, distinctively hand-colored by the creator. All loose as issued in a paper folder with a printed cover label. An excellent copy. Only three copies recorded by OCLC.After the war, Krol took up engraving, studying that art form with an engraver he met in Paris. Krol reflected his Hasidic childhood often using Biblical themes in his art works. Krol illustrated over 20 literary works from the late 1940s through the 1960s. He also engraved medals for the Paris mint and painted murals for schools in France. He designed tapestries and painted approximately 200 enamels. Museums and libraries which own KrolÕs art works include the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris; the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; the British Museum; Houghton Library, Harvard; Bodleian Library, Oxford, and the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.Emmanuel Navon was born in Constantinople, Turkey into a distinguished family of scholars, moved to Paris in the 1920s and established his own business. He survived World War II in occupied France. He moved to California in 1956 and opened the "Paris Art Gallery" on Sutter Street in San Francisco.

        Bill Clinton

The archive includes items that relate to Kate and Andrew Bleiler. The Bleilers were in the news most notably in a front lawn news conference during the Lewinsky scandal. Andrew Bleiler was a teacher with whom Monica had a 5-year torrid affair and he was quoted as saying that Monica told him she was going to Washington to "get her presidential knee pads". Included are a photo of Bill & Hillary Clinton, to the Bleilers, signed by both of them with autopen, a photo of Bill Clinton to Andrew Bleiler, signed with autopen, an authentically signed White House letter from Bill Clinton to Andrew Bleiler, two notes referencing Monica's address in her hand, eight personal cards in Monica's hand, some containing photos of Senator Dole's backyard at the Watergate, Monica's graduation signed "Me" by her, and of Monica. In addition to the materials contained in the portfolio there are four programs from Holidays at the White House 1995, three boxes of Presidential M & M's, one box of Presidential Whitman's Chocolates, one Presidential matchbook, and seven articles of clothing including a sexy slip that Monica gave to the then Mrs. Bleiler. We will not release copies or text of the items in this group for we feel that the archive could very well garner twice the asking price in P.R. value for the ultimate purchaser. An amazing group!

GAZETTEER OF THE PERSIAN GULF, OMAN AND CENTRAL ARABIA.( 19 VOLUMES).

Ithaca Press, Reading 1995 - Arabic and English text, Part I: Historical (10 volumes), Part II: Geographical (7 volumes), + 2 Appendices with genealogical tables and maps, Appendix 1: 26 sheets, Appendix 2: 23 sheets. This comprehensive work was translated under the supervision of Sultan Qaboos University and "Saint Antony's College" Middle East Center, Oxford University; Hardback binding, appendix, index; set in mint condition. The Gazetteer was first published in two volume, the first in 1908, the second in 1915, but was not released to public. It was classified as ‘ Secret and For Official Use Only’ by British Government Departments and Agencies until 1970, when the ban was lifted. The Gazetteer is considered an encyclopedia for Arab Gulf region. It covers geographical, historical, and social details concerning the Persian Gulf. The Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf, Oman and Central Arabia was compiled and written by John Gordon Lorimer (1870-1914), an official of the Indian Civil Service, assisted by a dedicated team of researchers from the Political Department of the British government in India. It was originally intended as a 'convenient and portable handbook' for British policy makers and representatives in the area. So thorough were the fact-finding missions which Lorimer undertook over a ten-year period, that the scale of the work escalated; a geographical and statistical volume was published in 1908, to be followed by a two-part historical 'volume' in 1915. A separate portfolio of genealogical charts of the ruling families of the region was also published. For the first time, a comprehensive and accurate bilingual English and Arabic edition of this work is being published. The 2000-page, alphabetically ordered survey which comprises the geographical volume, and the large-scale fold-out map which accompanied it, is being published in seven volumes. The original historical volume, which includes the region's general history from the Abbasid Caliphate of 1258 to the early twentieth century plus individual histories of the eleven political entities within the region, is published as a further ten volumes. In addition, there are two boxed volumes of maps and genealogical tables, bringing the total number of volumes in this set to nineteen. The wealth of historical, political and geographical information from which Lorimer composed the Gazetteer was sourced from official documents of the British government in India and the Gulf, from British naval and military establishments and the East India Company archives, plus, of course, first-hand research and surveys. A bibliography of all previously published explorers' accounts of the region is a further useful resource for researchers. Since being declassified in the 1970s from its original status as 'Secret' and 'For official use only', the Gazetteer has been reproduced in various editions, but this is the first comprehensive and accurate bilingual rendering of the work. A team of translators across the Middle East have worked on rendering both the facts and the style of the original work into Arabic. All the Arabic texts have been checked and approved by Dr Derek Hopwood, Director of the Middle East Centre of St Antony's College, University of Oxford. #9794 Size: 8vo. [Attributes: Hard Cover]

From 1965-67, Gered Mankowitz was the photographer, friend and travelling companion of The Rolling Stones. Throughout this time, he captured unique and breathtaking images of the band at work and at play. His photograph for the cover of the Stone's recording Between The Buttons is regarded by many as one of the most memorable album covers of all time. For those two years Gered's relationship with the Stones flourished and he had unrivalled access to the band's concerts, recording sessions and hotel rooms. In preparing this book, Gered individually proofed and examined 3,500 frames carefully stored in his own personal archive, an experience which he described as being 'like viewing much of my work for the very first time'. In the process he rediscovered images he had long since forgotten, including many rare and unpublished colour pictures which can be found in Mason's Yard to Primrose Hill. The edition was limited to 1,750 signed copies in black quarter leather with silk-screened slipcase.         Hortus nitidissimis omnem per annum superbiens floribus sive Amoenissimorum florum imagines ... Volumen [I-]II. | Der das ganze Jahr hindurch im schönsten Flor stehende Blumengarten, oder Abbildungen der lieblichsten Blumen, ... [Erster-]Zweyter Band.Nürnberg, [Johann Michael Seligman], Adam Ludwig Wirsing, [1750-1768-]1772[-1774]. 2 volumes bound as 1. Imperial folio (52.5 x 37 cm). With 119 engraved plates (numbered as 120) showing 128 flower varieties, painted by Georg Dionysius Ehret and others and engraved by Seligmann and Wirsing. With the plates printed on the better quality Dutch paper and coloured by hand for the publisher. Lacking 1 title-page and 1 text leaf. Contemporary mottled calf, each board with a gold-tooled roll border; the richly gold-tooled spine with a large thistle.

apps.kew.org/hortus/about.do; Blunt, p. 149; GFB, p. 144; Hunt, p. 236; Nissen, BBI 1995; for Ehret: Gerta Calmann, Georg Ehret, Flower painter extraordinary (1977). The first two of three volumes of the first and only edition of one of the greatest 18th-century flower books, with all 119 magnificent coloured plates produced for these two volumes. The present set was no doubt issued before volume three appeared (title-page 1786). One rarely finds two copies with the same make-up. The present set is a fine paper copy, with the plates on the better quality Dutch paper at a higher price. Although Trew is named as the author, most of the text appears to have been written by the classical scholar C.G. von Murr (1733-1811). The 128 beautifully illustrated flowers range from 24 to 50 cm in height and sometimes include details of the roots or a butterfly or other insects. "One of the finest records of the cultivated flowers of the period" (Dunthorne). "Exceedingly rare" and "magnificent flower book" (Hunt, where the book is not described because it was acquired just before the catalogue went to press). "One of the most decorative florilegia of the mid-eighteenth century" (Blunt). "One of the great florilegias ... probably the best work born of the collaboration of the artist ... Ehret and ...Trew ... [Murr's text is] among the most learned of horticultural writings" (apps.kew.org). It includes a wide variety of cultivated flowers, including many tulips, and is especially interesting for its detailed views of the reproductive parts (stamens and pistils). With a contemporary armorial bookplate and a 20th-century owner's inscription. Since the two volumes were bound together, the volume 2 title-page naming Wirsing was bound in as a general title-page. Volume 2 also lacks pp. 47-48. Plate 60/61 is shaved at the foot with the loss of the plate numbers and part of the imprint, but not approaching the image. The foot of plate 97 has been folded in to avoid such shaving. With some of the paper for the text of volume 2 slightly browned, and (mostly marginal) minor water stains in a few text, but the book is otherwise in very good condition. The binding shows a few scuffs and scratches, a few professional restorations to the spine, but the binding is otherwise very good. A beautiful, magnificent and historically important flower book, with 119 large hand-coloured plates.

        Gary Schneider: "glove": Artist Proof

New York City, NY: Gary Schneider Studios(1995). First Edition / First Printing. As New in No Dust Jacket, As Issued. 1 pages. Rare Gary Schneider collectible art. A pristine, framed Artist Proof of "Glove" handprint, titled, dated, numbered, and signed by Gary Schneider. There is no ISBN. The print is now rare. A brilliant production by Gary Schneider: Regular-sized print format. Measures 8 X 10 inches. Beautifully framed borderless, in very thick and heavy silver-gray metal and Plexiglas by Tracy Bungay Fine Framing, under the direct supervision of Martha Schneider Gallery Chicago. Full frame size is 9 X 11 inches. Eminently suitable for display. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Gary Schneider's "Glove". The luminous print of Sylvia Wolf's hand, one of the most important figures of contemporary art photography. "I have made handprint-portraits since 1993. I consider them to be as expressive as any portrait of a face, more private, and possibly more revealing" (Gary Schneider). His other handprint-portraits are collected in the lovely Artist Book, "Gary Schneider: Hand Book" (1998), published by Aperture, and the "culmination of 17 years of Schneider's commitment to making portraits of hands. For Schneider (who, in a former incarnation, was known as a master of chemical darkroom printing), the adaptation of digital technology marks a profound and telling shift in contemporary art and publishing" (Aperture Foundation). An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, item/artwork for Gary Schneider collectors. This framed Artist Proof is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully titled, dated, numbered, and signed in pencil on verso by the artist/photographer: "Glove 1995 AP 6 Gary Schneider". Because it is signed at the back, the signature is NOT visible in front, as many framed prints are. So a Xeroxed image-proof comes with the print, and is enclosed in its own protective plastic sleeve. This title is a great photographic print. As far as we know, this is the only copy available online, is beautifully framed, and has no flaws, a pristine beauty. Please note: Gary Schneider prints command thousands of dollars from his galleries, at art fairs, and at auction. His work is slowly but surely destined for canonical recognition. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed print thus. 1 original Artist Proof. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A flawless collectible print.         Il Riposo

Giorgio Marescotti. 8vo (160x109 mm). [24], 648 pp. With the printer's device on the title-page and an allegorical woodcut on the verso of the second leaf. Later vellum, some light browning and spots, title-page a bit soiled, a few ink stains, but a fine copy. FIRST EDITION of what is generally regarded as the best source for the biographies of the later Florentine Mannerists and the first Italian art treatise aimed specifically at the non-specialist connoisseur. "Whereas Vasari had written his Vite for both artists and non-artists, Raffaele Borghini's published his Riposo explicitly for those who do not practice either painting or sculpture. His book enables such laymen to talk about art in an informed way. Borghini considers talking about art to be an art form in its own right, and he maintains that through their verbal endeavours all laymen may become immortal artists. His Risposo will allow them to attain this goal" (T. Frangenberg, The Art of Taking about Sculpture: Vasari, Borghini and Bocchi, in: "Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes", 58, 1995, p. 118). The work is dedicated to Giovanni de' Medici, natural son of Cosimo I and Eleonora degli Albizzi. The work is written as an imaginary conversation between four members of the Florentine society (among them Borghini) during a visit to a villa near Florence, named Il Riposo, which belonged to the collector Bernardo Vecchietti, one of the interlocutors (cf. M. Bury, Bernardo Vecchietti: Patron of Giambologna, in: "I Tatti Studies", 1, 1985, pp. 13-56). The others were two Florentine noblemen, Baccio Valori and Girolamo Michelozzo and the sculptor Ridolfo Sirigatti (cf. D. Pegazzano, Lorenzo Sirigatti: Gli svaghi eruditi di un dilettante del Cinquecento, in: "Mitteilungen des kunstistorischen Institutes in Florenz", 42/1, 1998, pp. 144-175). The volume opens with a poem by Piero di Gherardo Capponi and on the verso an allegorical woodcut. Then follow a comprehensive index of the painters, sculptors and other names mentioned in the book as well a long subject index pointing to Borghini's marginal subheadings (cf. L.H. Ellis, Jr., Introduction, in: "Raffaello Borghini's "Il Riposo' ", Toronto, 2007, passim). "Raffaello Borghini's Il Riposo is, to an extent, a continuation of Vasari's Vite of 1568. This in- tent is testified to, not so much by the verses composed by Piero di Gherardo Capponi and addressed "A' pittori, et a gli scultori fiorentini', which follow immediately the title page (where the book is explicitly dedicated to "il Sig. Don Giovanni Medici'), as by the verso of this page, which bears the same woodcut of Eternal Fame with the Arts of Design and the Artists of the Past that served as an emblem for the first edition of Vasari's Vite (1550). But Borghini's book was primarily addressed to collectors and amateurs of art, an educated lay audience. Borghini writes, "I have written for those who do not practice these precepts, but, either for use or delight, are seized with pleasure in knowing them' (pp. 127-128). The first two books contain dialogues which treat, not the artists's vite, but more general questions relating to the arts. Thus the book is of a composite nature... Borghini's conception of the "vita' also differs significantly from Vasari's, as well as from a humanist conception of biography. And, as opposed to Vasari's often discursive and anecdotal vite, which offer ample biographical detail, Borghini provides, as he says, only a brief summary of the vite of the modern painters and sculptors (pp. 249f.), explicitly referring the reader to the fuller expositions found in Vasari. Borghini's Vite are constituted largely by lists of works by the artists. But, again as he writes, he includes many artists of the present, many treated for the first time. The vite begin in Book III, where accounts of artists from Cimabue to Giulio Romano are found. Following a brief introduction, Book I contains vite of artists beginning with Baccio Bandinelli. In addition to very many Florentine artists too late for Vasari, many artists active in Venice and Rome are included, as well as ones from Bologna, Milan, Urbino, and elsewhere. The dialogues treat disparate subjects. Religious decorum is a central concern, and religious narrative and sacred iconography receive much consideration, along with erotic or lascivious content and transgressions. Artistic technique is treated at length as well as criteria for artistic judgement... What is one to make of the striking contrast between the hastily compiled, uninformative summaries purloined from Vasari and the extraordinarily well-informed and detailed lists of works by living Florentine artists? And this, despite the fact that Borghini maintains that the latter are discussed with brevity, mentioning only the principal works (p. 542). At several points Borghini implies that what he writes is dependent upon the sources available to him (e.g., pp. 249f.), but there has been scarcely any attempt to define in detail his sources and to engage the text critically. In the dialogues, following the vita of Michelangelo, Sirigatti states that he will discuss the best artists of a later time, those of whom he has personal knowledge, although it seems unlikely that he knew all the artists working in Venice whom he describes. After treating artists who have died in recent years, the book turns to artists still living (p. 551). For the works of Venetian painters Borghini comes close to saying that he is relying upon detailed written reports (p. 559). Information about Bolognese painters seem to have been supplemented by a Florentine informant, Giovambattista Dei (pp. 566f.). Urbino is represented by Federigo Barocci, Rome by Federico Zuccari, Girolamo Muziano, and Scipione Pulzone. In some of these vite, Borghini may rely on information received from Egnazio Danti, who is mentioned at several points, and whose rather obscure younger brother, Girolamo, is, exceptionally, accorded a vita, and whose historicising collection of drawings representing all the good artists is also reported (p. 566: "di mano di tutti i valenti huomini dell'arte'). Returning to Florence (p. 579), Borghini treats foreigners in Florence (Stradanus and Giovanni Bologna) and then native Florentines. Much in these vite relies on first hand information from the artists (e.g., Stradanus, Ammannati, and others), and an exemplary and more extensive treatment is often devoted to one of the individual artist's principal works. In these vite a number of mistakes by Vasari are impatiently corrected. The book concludes, rather abruptly, with remarks about the youthful sculptor Giovanni Caccini, who is presented as a hope for the future" (Ch. Davis, Raffaello Borghini and his "Il Riposo', in: "Fontes. Quellen und Dokumente zur Kunst, 1350-1750", 59, 2011, pp. 23-24; see also T. Frangenberg, Der Betrachter: Studien zur florentinischen Kunstliteratur des 16. Jahrhunderts, Berlin, 1990, pp. 77-103). Also an interesting aspect of Il Riposo is that Borghini offers in it codes of conduct for the aging artist. "The key source for this courtly image of the artist appears in that most gracious of texts, Raffaello Borghini's Il Riposo... [His] image of artists such like Pontormo, who creates a spectacle by continuing to paint in old age, finds parallel in Castiglione's depiction of the aging courtier who fails to relinquish the pursuits of his youth... In light of Pontormo's negative example, Borghini offers a mod- el for artistic behaviour inspired by the role fashioned for the elderly courtier in courtesy literature. Through a transcendent rhetoric that echoes Castiglione's characterization of the final years of the courtier, Borghini aligns artistic practice with youth and the senses, and old age with pedagogy and contemplation" (E.J. Campbell, The Art of Aging Gracefully: The Elderly Artist as Courtier in Early Modern Art Theory and Criticism, in: "The Sixteenth Century Journal", 33/2, 2002, p. 327-8). Raffaello Borghini was born into a noble Florentine family. As a young man he was connected with those Florentine nobles who opposed the Medici; but later became a supporter of the powerful family. He spent most of his life in Florence, except for a period in France (1572-5), where he enjoyed the patronage of the Jean I de Pontève, Comte de Carcès and his wife Marguerite in Provence. On his return to Florence he began his career as a man of letters, poet and playwright, producing two successful comedies La donna costante (1578) and L'amante furioso (1583) and a pastoral play Diana pietosa (1586). He also began to frequent the cultured society around the court of Francesci I de' Medici and moved in the circles of the Capponi, Vecchietti, Valori and Pitti families. In this milieu, under the in- fluence of Francesco I, he assembled a collection that included not only works of art, but also bizarre and curious natural objects, achieving a mixture of naturalia and artificialia that was typical of the German Wunderkammer. He was buried in the church of Santa Croce in Florence (cf. R. Ceserani, Raffaello Borghini, in: "Dizionario biografico degli italiani", XII, 1971, pp. 677-680). Edit 16, CNCE 7120; H.M.

        The Stone Raft

New York City, NY: Harcourt Brace(1995). First Edition / First Printing. Fine in Fine Dust Jacket. 292 pages. The author's fourth novel to be translated into English. One of the greatest novels of the 20th century. The first appearance of the title in English and in the United States. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a tiny first print run as a hardcover original only that was made possible by a grant from the National Library of Portugal. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Jose Saramago's "A Jangada de Pedra" in a felicitous English translation. Masterpiece. What if Portugal and Spain, once omnipotent world powers now reduced to second-class status in The Great Continent, were to break away altogether from Europe and become adrift like a raft on the Atlantic? Saramago's profound and beautiful novel imagines just such a break-up (which results from a massive crack in the Pyrenees) in one of his greatest creations. "The silent dogs of Cerbere begin to bark, a sign that the universe is coming to an end. People start to wander about aimlessly. The Portuguese Government resigns as it becomes clear that the new island is going to collide with the Azores. With death and destruction seemingly imminent, a group of strangers ends up together, and their lives are transformed" (Publisher's blurb). As in all of his oeuvre, acutely so in his late, post-Nobel Prize work, Saramago re-visits and re-examines "the human condition", that otherwise exhausted inheritance from the idea and the reality called Europe and The Enlightenment, and sees it with fresh eyes through the prism of Apocalypse/"The End". Often described as a satirist, Saramago's work goes much deeper, and he is perhaps the greatest modern literary ironist since Franz Kafka. An important distinction: A satirist mocks, makes fun of, and laughs at others; an ironist mocks, makes fun of, and laughs at himself, that is, makes us laugh at his pain. "Arguably the greatest writer of our time. He throws a dazzling flash of lightning on his subjects" (The Chicago Tribune). Saramago was an anomaly who came out of nowhere, seemingly born a genius. Every single page of every single book he has ever written makes the reader feel that he or she is in the hands of an unsurpassable Master. An absolute "must-have" title for Jose Saramago collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen on the title page by Jose Saramago. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page or bookplate. This title is a great book. This is one of very few such signed copies of the First American Edition/First Printing still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Among the Nobel Laureates and other great writers of our time, Saramago's signature was probably the most difficult to get because he rarely left Lanzarote, the island he moved to at the height of his fame. Now that he is dead, he isn't signing any more copies. And yet, signed copies of his books, while not exactly cheap, remain under-priced as compared to those of say, Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Cormac McCarthy. While they are great writers, Saramago will be regarded by posterity as a greater writer than both of them, and there is no British or American novelist of the last fifty years, living or dead, who comes close to Saramago's achievement (except, according to Harold Bloom, for Philip Roth at his best). A rare signed copy thus. Regarded by Harold Bloom as one of the two greatest novelists of our time (the other being Philip Roth), Jose Saramago will be read as probably the greatest European novelist of the last fifty years. Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JOSE SARAMAGO TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 0151851980.

        Tales from Africa - SIGNED

Kenway Publications, Nairobi, Kenya 1995 - 6 + 310 pages, very nicely illustrated by a number of drawings. Tales from Africa by Major Douglas Tatham Collins, "gifted raconteur and writer", include many as a soldier and administrative officer in the Somalilands ("the legendary land of Punt") of north-eastern Africa in the 1940s and '50s. The first nine stories are all grouped under 'Somalia' and here Dougie remembers his postings, his colleagues in the services picking up the pieces after Italian rule, of his meeting his beautiful Somali mistress, of his shooting a goose whilst in the nude, of the hardships in the desert, of the Ogaden and the Mijertein, of his Samali staff and the local population. The second grouping of stories is headed 'Wildlife and Hunting', the first of which concerns George Adamson and Collins' close involvement in the funeral arrangements of his old friend as well as many reminiscences of their friendship over very many years. Several other stories of Dougie Collins' career as a white hunter in the 1960s and '70s, of his clients and the animals they sought, much on Kenya. The next grouping of stories is "Lamu" where Collins lived for some 15 years in the 1980s and '90s. Lamu is that wonderful and quixotic island in north-east Kenya, visited in a certain era by many Hippies but also lived in by many characters and persons of interest. In the final gouping, 'Reminiscences', Collins pulls together a number of stories of fascination, including several on persons he knew, the most internationally noted of such being Wilfred Thesiger. But others of interest include Peter Hankin and Percival Alan Petley, Coconut Charlie and Naughty Francis. Animals and birds are frequently the subject of Collins' memories. Cricket afficionados might be interested in a match Collins arranged deep in Somaliland, and references to wartime cricket in Mogadishu, as well as references to the Nandi Bears cricket team at Londiani in the Rift Valley. Collins, evidently a very good batsman, according to the rear cover, used to immediately ask relief officers at his bush outpost "Do you bowl?" A marvellous book of reminiscences, memories and anecdotes of decades now long gone, providing the reader now with a view on to African history. As well as the large number of drawings to augment the text, Mary Nicholas was also responsible for the excellent cover design. [Book description, copyright Carvid Books] This has now become a very scarce book. This copy is SIGNED by the author, as part of a dedication, on the half-title page - "This one is for Bill Mills with salaams and felicitations - Douglas Collins, Vipingo 1998". The author was then living in Vipingo, just north of Mombasa, and signed this copy just months before his death in Nairobi in May 1999. Covers somewhat creased and marked; remnants of a price label on rear; some production negatives internally; a few odd marks. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
