A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes

New York: Bantam Books, 1988. First American edition. Fine/Fine. A Fine copy of the book in a Fine dust jacket with a slight wrinkle at the crown, otherwise fresh and crisp. Housed in an attractive slipcase. Correct first issue with no Table of Contents in the book and with the silver dust jacket (price intact), later switched to a dark blue. The first printing was recalled due to numerous errors with few copies surviving, particularly in this condition. To make matters worse, there was a bookclub edition that was virtually identical to the first state, but for a paragraph on p. 34 and the price and ISBN # on the jacket. Our copy conforms to all correct issue points. Professor Hawking is widely regarded as the most important theoretical physicist since Albert Einstein. In this work he presents a succinct history of the most important theories and developments of our universe and then discusses current research and still unanswered questions. Fine in Fine. dust jacket.

        DOCUMENT - Signed

Laguna Beach, California 1988 - Canceled check from Buzz Aldrin's personal checking account. It is dated August 26, 1988 and is made out to San Diego Gas & Elect. for the amount of $18.26. Check has been signed "Buzz Aldrin" in black ink. Remainder of the check has been filled out in another hand. Buzz Aldrin was born in Montclair, New Jersey on January 20, 1930. He was educated at West Point, graduating with honors in 1951, third in his class. After receiving his wings, he flew Sabre Jets in 66 combat missions in the Korean Conflict, shooting down two MIG-15's. Returning to his education, he earned a Doctorate in Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Manned Space Rendezvous. The techniques he devised were used on all NASA missions, including the first space docking with the Russian Cosmonauts. In October 1963, Aldrin was selected by NASA as one of the early astronauts. In November 1966, he established a new record for Extra- Vehicular Activity in space on the Gemini XII orbital flight mission. He has logged 4500 hours of flying time, 290 of which were in space, including 8 hours of EVA. As Backup Command Module Pilot for Apollo VIII, man's first flight around the moon, Buzz significantly improved operational techniques for astronautical navigation star display. Then, on July 20, 1969, Buzz and Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo XI moon walk, thus becoming the first two humans to set foot on another world. This unprecedented heroic endeavor was witnessed by the largest worldwide television audience in history. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

        Heart Throbs

Long Beach, California:: Terry Braunstein,, 1988.. One-of-a-Kind. 5 x 7.5" altered book. Original book: Heart Throbs (Boston: The Chopple Publishing Company, LTD, n.d.). Using collage plus cutting and gluing, Braunstein creates three spreads containing a series of dramatic spaces — including a shadow box and several shallow windows — wherein she sets tableaux playing with the concept of romantic fixation.Noriko Gamblin, Curator, Long Beach Museum of Art: "There are no ready answers to the questions Terry Braunstein poses, and no promise of a resolution forthcoming. In fact, there seem only to be more questions, and more cross-references. By importing the loaded content of mass media imagery into her artistic landscape, she not only challenges the assumptions implicit in contemporary culture but also addresses one of the aesthetic dilemmas: the interpretive gap between appearance and truth.
