The Lord of the Rings is the 8th impression, published in 1982, of the 1 volume De Luxe hardback edition of 1969, printed on India Paper (making the entire trilogy only 1" thick), housed in original publishers tray case with clean bright label. The Hobbit is the 4th impression, published in 1986, of the 1st De Luxe Edition of 1976, with the Tolkien line drawings colorized by H. E. Riddett, also housed in original publishers tray case with a clean bright label. Poems and Stories is the 1st Impression, published in 1980, also housed in publishers tray case with clean label. The label and the black covering have released in a number of areas, mainly around the folds, which has caused a bubbled appearence to the case. All three of these De Luxe Editions are bound in black buckram cloth, with elaborate multi colored gilt artwork to the front boards. Gilt compartments with Title, Author, and publisher on the spines. A few rubs to the gilt rule on the edges of The Lord of the Rings with some minor loss of color. An exceptional set for the collector. No names, writing or faults noted in any of the books. Maps are present in the first two books, Poems and Stories was not issued with one.. All of the publishers tray cases are in Very Good condition with a couple of split corners neatly repaired, and have protected the books very well over the years. Overall Near Fine/Very Good Plus copies of these wonderful books, each lacking the original onion skin wrappers for the books. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Reminiscences, many photographs and song lyrics, these latter often presented as facsimiles of the manuscript versions.Laid in is a colour picture postcard, in very good condition, of Trader Vic's restaurant in the Hilton Hotel, London, on the back of which Harrison has written: ''To Sharron lots of love, and I'll see you when your a bit older. George Harrison.'' The inscription presumably dates from before enlightenment came upon him. Also laid is one of Astrid Kirchherr's black and white photographs of three of the early Beatles (Harrison, Lennon and Sutcliffe) posed on and in front of a truck - this is reproduced in the book as plate VII. Signed by the author, with her corrections to at least five pages of text, and with her markings and self-instructions for what appears to be a reading from the text. Dillard has taped a square of paper to the front board listing the pages with "Corrections," under her heading "be wise - write it down." Small sticker taped to the spine, with the fading word, "MINE." "Ex Libris Annie Dillard" bookplate on the front pastedown. One essay in this collection was chosen for the Best Essays of the Twentieth Century volume and another won New York Women's Press Club award for its year. Several page corners turned. Outer corner of text block stained. A very good copy, lacking the dust jacket and, with the author's own markings and changes. Unique. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good.

On trouve également dans cet ouvrage , hors pagination, une préface de Tatsuo FUKUSHIMA suivie d'un texte Yukio MISHIMA, écrit bien antérieurement, en 1970). Et l'on trouve aussi, in fine, une postface constituée par la biographie de Eiko HOSOE et la liste des principales expositions de ses oeuvres.L'ouvrage est contenu dans un coffret cartonné, de couleur noire, reprenant à nouveau le titre et le nom du photographe mais cette fois en blanc sur fond noir. ... Et ce coffret est lui-même contenu dans un carton de transport, reproduisant à nouveau , sur un des plats, le titre et le nom de l'auteur en caractères clairs sur fond noir.Cet ouvrage, dont chaque photo est à mettre en rapport avec la biographie de Eiko HOSOE donnée en fin de volume, comporte principalement les photographies de la série " Embrace", plus une rétrospective de l'œuvre du célèbre photographe, avec certaines photos extraites deMAN AND WOMAN et de ORDEAL BY ROSES ( dont le grand Yukio MISHIMA est à la fois l'objet et le sujet). Cette rétrospective a été organisée selon la volonté de Eiko HOSOE sans souci chronologique ni thématique.Dans le texte écrit sur HOSOE par MISHIMA , celui-ci disait : " Les photos d'EMBRACE m'ont envouté dés leur parution pour leur beauté que je qualifierais de mystérieusement froide. Tout ce qui, dans le corps, peut apparaître mou et informel comme les entrailles, dégager odeur et chaleur, ne se retrouve pas dans " EMBRACE " ; ces photos sont dures et tout imprégnées d'une beauté athlétique. Ici, la force prime". Et il ajoute plus loin: " Si l'on ressent une certaine tristesse dans " EMBRACE ", c'est que l'homme ne peut exprimer son extase que par une tension dure et volontaire. Les personnages semblent se battre mais soudain la chair apparaît, lyrique et éblouissante comme la neige. Une blancheur au sommet de la grâce et qui ne fondra jamais (traduction de Marie-Edith Milleret)".HOSOE lui-même dit de son ouvrage HUMAN BODY: " Loin de figurer des formes humaines ou des " morceaux de chair ", il est le témoignage d'une quête : ma quête de l'âme, du corps-animé, mystère de l'homme ".Notre exemplaire est en parfait état, comme neuf et bien complet de son coffret et de son emballage de transport. En outre, il contient l'importante notice (4 pages) qui avait été jointe à l'ouvrage lors de sa présentation, en 1983, à PARIS, à la Galerie ACCENT.

Twenty-six copies of each print reserved for sale as a special suite, numbered with letters of the alphabet -- this being Suite C. Harold McGrath printed the title page and colophon at the Hampshire Typothetae, West Hatfield. Each suite is numbered and signed by the artist and wrapped in a chemise laid in a quarter-leather tray case with titling in gold made by Gray Parrot, II.
