        39' x 37' x 16' (approx). AND / OR [Gallery]. June 22 to July 9, 1978

[And/or Gallery], [Seattle] 1978 - 22 unnumbered pages, including inside wrappers. B/w photographic images and diagrams. Catalogue: 8" x 9-3/4". Box: 9-5/8" x 12" Exhibition catalogue signed by Savinar to the front wrapper, accompanied by two sealed, clear plastic bags containing sawdust and wood chips, respectively. Each bag has been mixed with printed paper scraps, apparently clipped from newspapers or magazines and with a construction theme."39' x 37' x 16' (approx)" was a fairly early exhibit in Savinar's now 40+ career as a Portland-based artist. The show offered a mixed media and wood sculptural interpretation of construction work and its intersections with sex, gender, and country music. The bags of construction detritus we speculate may have been byproducts of the art's creation and/or exhibition setup.Scarce. We find no record of this boxed limitation issue, and only four institutional holdings for just the catalogue alone: MOMA, SFMOMA, Portland Art Museum, and San Francisco Center for the Book. Fine condition in Near Fine box (minor wear). Stapled brown craft-paper wrappers printed in black, with partially printed/ partially handwritten limitation info to lower corner. In painted cardboard box SIGNED limited edition. No. 36 of 50 (boxed copies?), out of 400 total exhibit catalogues. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

        The Tolkien Library

London: George Allen & Unwin, 1978. 1st Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/Very Good Plus. J.R.R. Tolkien. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Tolkien Library, a collection of Tolkien's five most famous books, collected together by Allen & Unwin in 1978, housed in the original publishers slipcase, featuring a photo of J.R.R. Tolkien by Billett Potter to the rear side of the slipcase. A very scarce set in Very Good Plus condition. No names or writing in any of the books. All books are priced and not clipped. No foxing or offsetting to any of the books. Each book has its original topstain, without fading or any marks. A fabulous set, without any major faults. A bump to the side corner on the back has caused a small flake of color loss, along with a little rubbing to the corners. The green cloth on the top and bottom of the case are clean and unmarked, no bumped corners noted. The books fit tightly enough so that I have not covered the dustjackets in protectors, as I do not believe they would fit in the case properly. The Hobbit is the 1st impression of the 4th Edition published in 1978. The Lord of the Rings are also published in 1978, the 11th/10th/10th impressions respectively. The Silmarillion is the 4th impression of 1977. All five books are the original copies to be housed in this collection, a rare opportunity to add to your own Tolkien Library. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions. Very Good Plus / Very Good Plus.

All that Jazz (Original screenplay for the 1979 film, inscribed by Bob Fosse, Robert Alan Aurthur, Roy Scheider, and Kenneth Utt)

Columbia Pictures, Culver City, CA 1978 - Draft script for the 1979 Academy Award winning film. An especially noteworthy copy, likely belonging to a member of the filmmaking security staff, and INSCRIBED by director Bob Fosse, screenwriter Robert Alan Aurthur, leading man Roy Scheider, and associate producer Kenneth Utt: "For Jimmy / Your [sic] the best - I thank you for all your kindness / Bob Fosse." "To Jimmy - Who took such good care of us - Thank you / Robert Alan Aurthur." "For Jimmy - Warmest Regards + Thanks - Roy Scheider." "To Jimmy / The Chief of 57th St. Our sincere thanks for making all of this real estate work and workable. And a special thanks from me, the other dirty old man - Kenny Utt."A remarkable grouping of signatures from authors of the film (as opposed to its cast), includingscreenwriter Aurthur's signature (screenwriters are not commonly found on the set of a film). Also notable for RoyScheider's signature directly next to that of director Bob Fosse, a strange juxtaposition of the real Fosse and the manplaying the fictionalized Fosse.Often compared to Fellini's cinematic masterpiece "8 1/2," "All That Jazz" provides a comprehensive look into the tortured personal life of a highly successful entertainer. Forced to contend with his nearing mortality and confined to a hospital bed following a heart attack, director Joe Gideon drifts through hallucinations and memories laced with musical numbers and theatrical routines. Based on director Bob Fosse's personal experience in show business, and credited by Fosse as having been loosely inspired by Hilma Wolitzer's 1974 novel "Ending" as well. Winner of four Academy Awards in total and was nominated for another five, as well as being nominated for the Palme d'Or.Set in New York City, shot on location in New York City. Black titled wrappers. Title page present, noted as copy No. 70, dated 05/26/78, with credits for screen writers Robert Alan Aurthur and Bob Fosse. 131 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 130. Photographically reproduced, first generation copy with no copied punch holes. Pages Fine, wrapper Fine bound with two gold screw brads.National Film Registry. Criterion Collection 724.         The Man Who Japed

(London, 1978): Methuen. First Edition. Small Octavo. 158p. Dick's haunting work envisions a coming future where major corporations have seamlessly merged with government agencies to create a level of control that only needed the technology that now makes virtual spying possible. His vision of the coming world power structure is not content to know the intimate details of each individual but to shape them so they will be devoid of the spirit of any hint of individualism. Originally, written as a science fiction short story in 1956 it timeliness is even more evident in 2017. This is a remarkably bright copy lacking the pronounced browning found in most issues, just a bit to outer edges. Bound in green cloth, spine lettering gilt. Tiny bump to foot. Very nice.
