IT'S PEACE!" News Poster Inscribed by Beatles Photographer Bob Freeman to George Harrison and gifted to Ringo Starr!

      - A graphically striking vintage news banner issued by the Evening Standard, in two colors, proclaiming peace at the end of WW2.  Inscribed on the verso in ink from Bob Freeman "To George and Pattie," later gifted by George Harrison (presumably after his divorce from Pattie Boyd in 1977) to Ringo Starr and acquired by us from the Collection of Ringo Starr.  29 by 17 inches. In very good condition, with tears professionally mended with Japanese tissue, and archivally framed.  Robert Freeman is a photographer and designer, most famous for his album cover photos for The Beatles and his design work on the end credit sequences of their first two films and the related film posters and advertising materials.  He was the Beatles' most favoured photographer during the years 1963 to 1966 and shot arguably the most well known images of them. He photographed and designed the covers for five consecutive album covers of the Beatles-sanctioned UK album releases on the Parlophone label. Most of those images were also adapted by Capitol Records for the US releases they compiled from the Beatles' UK recordings.

Eine Stadt: Essen. Museum Folkwang, Essen, 18. März - 24. April 1977.

Museum Folkwang., Essen. 1977 - 1. Auflage. Essen. Museum Folkwang. Selten. [Vgl. Hans Dickel: Künstlerbücher mit Photographie seit 1960; S. 91 ff mit Abbildungen; Lippert. Feldmann - Das Museum im Kopf, S. 100 ff mit Abbildungen; Nicht bei Glasmeier, Die Bücher der Künstler].         "fourteen dollars and thirty two cents"

Typescript with holograph corrections signed ("Charles Bukowski / 9-28-77"). [Los Angeles], 1977. Two pages, 4to, on cream typing paper, stapled. 51 lines, with 11 corrections to punctuation. Published in 'Dangling in the Tournefortia' (Black Sparrow, 1981). Aubrey Malone, in 'The Hunchback of East Hollywood: A Biography of Charles Bukowski' references this poem as an example of Bukowski's "incredibly jumpy mind" (p.126). Bukowski creates a poem out of insomnia, and life pressures, "dead cat on the boulevards. / de Sade grinning in the dark. / more trouble in the government. [...] getting an erection / from looking at the girl cashier. / 'how your doing?' she asks / 'I need my teeth drilled,' tell / her [...]"

        The Autumn of the Patriarch.

London: Jonathan Cape,, 1977. Translated from the Spanish by Gregory Rabassa. Octavo. Original blue boards, spine lettered gilt, top edge blue. With the dust jacket. Minor foxing to edges of text block; an excellent copy in the bright jacket. First UK edition, first impression. Signed by the author on the half-title with an original line drawing of a flower. From the library of the Irish book collector Dr Philip Murray. In his book, The Adventures of a Book Collector (2011), Murray writes: "I had heard that the Mexican postal system is one of the most unreliable anywhere in the world, but I decided to chance it and sent eleven books ? nearly a year went by without any further word. I was certain my luck had run out and I would never see my copies again ... the return package had burst open and had had to be repacked. All the books were inscribed and the author had drawn various images in some of them, so it was worth the wait". It was first published in the US the preceding year, and originally published in Spanish under the title El otoño del patriarca in 1975.

The Amazing Spider-Man (Archive of 5 scripts for the 1977 television show belonging to actor Michael Pataki)

Los Angeles: Charles Fries Productions, 1977. Archive of five scripts for four episodes from Season One of "The Amazing Spider-Man" television series in 1977. All belonging to actor Michael Pataki, who played police captain Barbera in the series, each with his holograph name on either the front wrapper or title page, and his lines and stage directions circled throughout, with one of the scripts also including substantial holograph changes to Barbera's dialog and action. "The Amazing Spider-Man" debuted on CBS in September 1977 with a two hour television movie serving as the pilot, the first live action treatment of Marvel's flagship hero outside of some occasional segments that aired as part of PBS's "The Electric Company" earlier in the decade. Five more episodes of Season One aired the following April and May. A second series of eight episodes aired during the 1978-79 season. Although a ratings success, CBS chose not to renew "The Amazing Spider-Man" for a third season, because they were already committed to "The Incredible Hulk" and "Wonder Woman" live action series, and were wary of being dismissed as a one dimensional "superhero network," a somewhat mystifying reason when viewed in from the almost total domination by comic book characters of the pop culture of today. Included in the archive are a draft script for the two hour television movie pilot, "Spider-Man," here under the working title "The Mind Stealers," Second Revised Final draft scripts for episode two, "The Deadly Dust Part One," both a First Draft and a Second Revised Final draft of episode three, "The Deadly Dust Part Two," and a Second Draft script for episode five, "Night of the Clones," here under the working title "The Dark Side of Dr. Moon."
