Monthly magazine.] Publisher Andy Warhol.) Volume IX-XII, No.1-8 (1978-1982). 44 numbers in three volumes. (New York, Interview Enterprises, January 1978 to August 1982. Folio. Mit sehr zahlr., teils farbigen Abb. (Fotos, Anzeigen etc.) Schwarze Lwbde mit Rtiteln. - Beigegeben vier Einzelnummern.

Lose beiliegend die Einzelnummern No. 2/ Vol. VII (1977), No. 9, 10 u. 12/ Vol. VIII (1978). [Attributes: Hard Cover]

Logan's Run: The Crypt (Original screenplay for the 1977 television episode, crew member's copy)

Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1977. Final Draft script for the November 7, 1977 TV episode, "The Crypt," season 1, episode 7 of the science fiction series "Logan's Run." This episode is based on an original story by Harlan Ellison. Copy belonging to an uncredited crew member named Chuck Sereci, with his name in holograph pencil on the front wrapper. In their futuristic society, the age of 30 is considered one's deathbed, so the two go on the run to find sanctuary and freedom from the dystopian society. Harlan Ellison had been writing for television since 1963 ("Ripcord"), and wrote for several notable series, including "The Outer Limits," "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "Star Trek," "The Twilight Zone," and "Babylon 5" (and its many spin-offs).         Original proofs for the artwork on Love You Live.

New York: Rolling Stone Records, 1977 - Excellent condition. Presented float mounted in 2 black wooden frames with conservation glass. 2 offset lithograph proofs on heavy card. Each sheet size 41.8 × 71 cm. Possibly unique proofs of the album cover artwork commissioned from Andy Warhol for the Rolling Stones album Love You Live. These proofs, which were purchased from the late Art Collins, President of Rolling Stones Records, are almost certainly the only set surviving that show the design as it was intended by Warhol, without the hand-drawn title and track-listing with which it was issued. These were a considerable bone of contention for Warhol, who had imagined the record label would put the album out in a transparent sleeve of some sort with the titling and credits imposed, leaving his artwork - complete as far as he was concerned - untouched, something he made abundantly clear to Jerry Hall; "I told Jerry I thought Mick had ruined the Love You Live cover I did for them by writing all over it - it's his handwriting, and he wrote so big. The kids who buy the album would have a good piece of art if he hadn't spoiled it" (The Andy Warhol Diaries, 5 July 1978). Vincent Fremont, who ran Warhol's businesses and was the executor of his estate, confirmed that "Andy was very upset about the text that got added to his original artwork for the cover of Love You Live that the work on the cover was conceived by Warhol as an image only and that he very very upset about the addition of text to the final printed form". All of which meant that Warhol was genuinely loth to sign copies of the album presented to him, remarkable for a man notorious for his willingness to append his signature to more or less anything put in front of him.         Pink Floyd at the Oakland Coliseum, May 9 & 10, 1977 (Original promotional poster)

London and New York: Harvest / EMI, 1977. Original promotional poster for a two performances by Pink Floyd at the Oakland Coliseum, touring behind their album, "Animals," released in January 1977. "Animals" marked a daring and ambitious departure for Pink Floyd, moving from a pleasing pop-blues based sound that had won them international fame, to a dark, grisly concept album that had its creative origins in George Orwell's "Animal Farm, but was specifically a blistering critique of socio-political conditions of 1970s industrial Britain. The album's princpial symbol, the pig floating above the Battersea power station at Clapham Common, became an ongoing theme for the band that continued well into its next album, "The Wall," which delved further into themes of British cultural devolution. The performance on May 9th at Oakland Coliseum is remembered as one of the greatest and most inspired of the band's career. "The band members seemed to enjoy the show just as much as their rapt audience. The show turned out to be the longest of any show on the tour, with the band delivering two powerful sets ["Animals" in a different sequence, "Wish You Were Here" in its entirety, and "Money" and "Us and Them" from "Dark Side Of The Moon"]. The audience was so enthusiastic that the group returned to the stage and performed "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" for the first time since 1973 and for last time ever." Card stock, 28 x 18.5 inches. About Near Fine, with a few creases at the edges, bright and colorful overall.

James Bond, the spy who loved me

Jonathan Cape Ltd 1977 - This is a fine first edition, first printing hardback. The book is without fault or blemish. The page block is tight, white and square. The pages are perfect with no evidence of foxing or other marks. The black boards are unmarked whilst the gilt lettering remains clear and bright. The price clipped dust wrapper is near fine; still crisp and bright with two tiny closed tears and some wear to the folds and edges. The superb wraparound artwork on the dust wrapper by Bill Botten is a particular distinguishing feature of the book. The dust wrapper is now protected by an acid free removable archival cover and presents well. The book may well be unread. This is the first ‘novelisation’ of a James Bond film. Many more were written following the death of Ian Fleming, some more meritorious than others, this being one of the better ones. The film ‘The Spy who loved me’ took only its title from Fleming’s book of that name. The plot, characters and perspective of the Fleming book were considered to be a poor fit with previous Bond films. Christopher Wood was commissioned, therefore, to write a screenplay for the film that used only the title from the Fleming book. Wood was a strange choice since his previous screen work had been confined mainly to the salacious and rather poorly produced ‘Confessions’ films. However, he rose to the task and the film was a critical and popular success. Wood was thus encouraged to produce a novel based on his screenplay. The novel added ‘James Bond’ to the title ‘The Spy who loved me’ in order to distinguish the book from the original novel by Fleming. Wood’s book had a very small print run and it is now one of the rarest and most sought after of the post Fleming James Bond novels. The images you see are high resolution scans of the actual item. The book will be dispatched via the Royal Mail in protective packaging. We do not charge postage to buyers within the UK. We offer a 7 day no quibble full refund if the item is not as described and shown. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

Signed contract for the publication of Revelations.

Newton Center, Mass.: Margun Music,, 1977. Original typed document, signed, 3 pages on Margun Music letterhead. Some minor damage from the removal of staples from the top, left-hand corner, else very good. Original contract dated Jan. 20 1977, on the letterhead of Schuller's music publishing company, Margun Music, signed by Mingus and Schuller on the the final page, and with their initials to a holographic revision on the second page. A five year agreement, in which Mingus agrees to license Margan, "to print, publish, copy and vend the musical composition, entitled 'Revelations' composed by Charles Mingus." A extremely uncommon late document signed by Mingus whose signature is difficult to obtain anyway, and who by this time was already suffering from ALS, the devastating motor neuron disease which was to render him unable to play or perform by the end of 1977 and caused his untimely death in January, 1979. Also significant, because the two composers had been friends and collaborators for many years, and in fact it was Schuller who had originally commissioned the bassist to compose 'Revelations' for the Brandeis Festival of The Arts, a three day festival of "Third Stream" - bridging between the classical and jazz disciplines - music, held in New York in the summer of 1957. This marked the first performance of a large scale orchestral piece by Mingus, enhancing his already established reputation as a gifted, fiercely innovative composer and anticipating his later extraordinary experiments with larger orchestral forms, which were to culminate in his posthumous magnum opus 'Epitaph'. In April 1978, Schuller conducted a performance of 'Revelations' by the New York Philharmonic - a performance which was made possible by this agreement - to coincide with Mingus's 56th birthday, with the composer in attendance, by this time a rare public appearance which revealed Mingus's tragic physical decline. Always a champion of the composer's work, Schuller played a pivotal role in reconstructing and arranging Mingus's 'Epitaph' from an enormous and chaotic manuscript, discovered a decade after his death by Mingus archivist, Andrew Homzy. At about two hours long and likely the longest extended composition in jazz history, the complete composition was premiered at Lincoln Centre in 1989 under Schuller, and as recently as 2007 he conducted the piece again in its entirety, as part of a series of concerts in celebration of what would have been Mingus's 85th birthday.
