Trento, Italy: La Roccia, 1976. The original edition Volume I of Scamozzi's four volume work was published in Vicenza in 1776, the same year in which Thomas Jefferson wrote the American Declaration of Independence. This facsimile edition was published on the occasion of the Andrea Palladio Exhibition and represents the contribution of the Republic of Italy to the American bicentennial celebration. This is a limited edition of unstated limitation. The book consists of unbound single sheets measuring 18.75 x 12.75 inches and folded double sheets measuring 18.75 x 25.5 inches. Includes: introductory double-sheet; title page for Vol. I; portrait of Palladio; 52 numbered plates; index page; title page for Vol. II; 51 plates; index page; title page for Vol. III; 52 plates; index page; title page for Vol. IV; 54 plates. 209 plates total, not counting the portrait. Note that as to Vol. III, Plates XXXII and XXXIII are on the same page and the same is true for Plates XXXV and XXXVI. All plates are immensely clean and rather crisp. No tears, marks or other demerits observed, except that a few plates have very light bends or semi-creases, fairly trivial. Previous owner name on the front blank sheet of the introductory double-sheet in a large but neat blue ink hand. Blindstamp of previous owner on the second page of the same double-sheet. Housed in a large, custom clamshell box, heavy-duty. Clamshell box with leatherette spine, marbled paper hardboards and metal clasps. The gilt-stamped lettering to the spine is very faded. Previous owner name on the inside front of the case in a large but neat blue ink hand. Some scuffing to the marbled paper near the top of the front of the case. The clamshell box is quite distressed, having broken along the top and bottom edges, but is fully present. Nevertheless the box has done an excellent job protecting the contents.         More Tales of the Black Widowers

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1976. First Edition. Hardcover Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Asimov's second collection of short mystery stories, set during the luncheon meetings of the Black Widowers, a private social club. Nine of the dozen stories first appeared in magazines, the other three see print here for the first time. Asimov loved the mystery genre and wrote a number of them, but without the success afforded his science fiction. As a result, collectable copies of his Black Widowers collections are among the scarcest of his 1970s books. First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. A significant association copy, inscribed by Asimov 'To George Scithers and the great task now well begun. Isaac Asimov, 17 Dec 76.' The inscription almost certainly refers to the publication of the first issue of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. 'The first and founding editor [of IASFM] was George Scithers, an important science fiction fan and amateur publisher, who had run the Washington convention in 1963, at which I had received my first Hugo. He established the magazine as a viable entity from the start... —I. Asimov, p. 426. It's not surprising that Asimov gave Scithers this book. The publisher of IASFM, Joel Davis, convinced Asimov to write a series of Black Widower stories for another of his magazines, Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. This book comes from a large collection of Isaac Asimov first editions, including many signed and especially fine copies.

Miyako Ishiuchi Photographs 1976 - 2005 (Signed Limited Edition)

Los Angeles: Manfred Heiting, 2008. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Fine. This is a signed, limited edition of \"Miyako Ishiuchi (Photographs 1976 - 2005)\" published by Manfred Heiting/Cinubia Production in 2008 with a limitation of 100 hand signed and numbered copies this being number 68. Miyako Ishiuchi is widely regarded as one of the great Japanese photographers of the past half century and is the only women whose work was featured in Ryuichi Kaneko and Ivan Vartanian\'s reference work on Japanese Photobooks, \"Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s and 70s\". This book is a stunning book-object perfectly suited to Ishiuchi\'s work. A gorgeous production designed by Machiel Botman and published by Manfred Heiting, the book is bound in the unusual Leporello style, with two-page triton spreads printed recto and verso. On one side are images from her early work in the seventies, about Yokosuka (Yokosuka Story, Apartment and Endless Night). On the other side are images from her later work (; 1906 to the Skin and Mother\'s). In each section, the covers of the original books are reproduced as well. As Sandra S. Phillips wrote in \"The Art of Miyako Ishiuchi\", \"There is a quality of ambiguity in Miyako Ishiuchi\'s work that is memorable and distinctive. It is an ambiguity that comes from her particular sensibility to render objects as concrete and real while simultaneously representing them as essentially intangible and fragile....\". Measuring approximately 10.75 x 8 inches, the book is bound in printed stiff boards (issued without a dust jacket) and housed in a maroon slipcase with OBI. The slipcase and book are in FINE condition with the book boards evidencing very minimal surface wear caused by the rubbing of the book while in the slipcase. The book has been signed and numbered (68 of 100) by Miyako Ishiuchi on the title page.
