Giulio R.         The Mary Tyler Moore Show ("The Lars Affair"--The July 1973 Revised Script)

, 1973. 1973. Original wraps. Near Fine. The July 1973 "Revised Production Script" of one of the great early episodes of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". Approaching the midway point of this landmark comedy series (1970-1977), this episode, pitting the "Happy Homemaker" against a cuckolded Phyllis, was written by Ed. Weinberger --one of the show's principal creative forces-- and fires on all cylinders, with wonderful performances by Mary herself, Ted, Phyllis and Sue Anne Nivens. This script belonged to --and was lightly annotated by-- one of this episode's writing advisers, a woman who performed stand-up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s. The script is crisp and Near Fine in its purple wrappers, with typed yellow pages. Tall quarto, an uncommon example of original source material from the show many feel represents the very pinnacle of television.

THE CRAIG CLAIBORNE JOURNAL (36 issues)

NY: Clairborne-Franey, Inc, 1973. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. Complete run of Volume 1, 24 issues, plus 12 of 18 issues of Volume 2 of the scarce newsletter of recipes, food philosophizing, and charming anecdotes that Claiborne started with his longtime friend and former chef at Le Pavillon, Pierre Franey, when he left The New York Times as its food critic in 1971. It failed after two years. "I shouldn't have done it," Claiborne told People magazine in 1975, "I'm not what the French call a businessman." Each issue is 8 pages, Volume 1 running from March 15, 1972 to March 1, 1973, three-hole punched, as issued, housed in a black, vinyl three ring binder issued by Claiborne with his signature stamped in gold. The incomplete run of Volume 2 is loose, the last issued on December 1, 1973. A few of the newsletters are lightly stained, likely evidence that the recipes were actually used in an actual kitchen.

Alton Water: The Landscape of the Proposed Reservoir, Final Report (February 1973)

D G Thornley 1973 - Paperback; English language; a fair reading copy; this is the 'Final Report on Landscape and Amenity issues involved in the proposed development of the Alton Water Reservoir Site' (nature conservation, fishing, sailing, birdwatching) prepared for the Ipswich Corporation (ie the Borough Council); the development was formerly known as the 'Tattingstone Reservoir'; the 81-page Report comes with an envelope in the back, containing 2 copies of the large map 'Sheet 9' showing the landscaping and amenety proposals in different colours, and a copy of the large map 'Sheet 9a' showing (in colour) the proposed footpath network around the new reservoir, there is a small tear in the top of this map but no information is lost; also included is a 3-page typed letter from D G Thornley summarising his proposals; apparently the Final Report came in a folder with other maps but these are absent; the Report is 29.5 cm wide, 20.5 cm high, the pages of the Report have no annotations, there are a few creases to the covers and the (blank) top-right corner of the inside of the rear cover has a water stain, the white fabric strip covering the spine has lifted in some places; this is a scarce document regarding one of the most significant undertakings in Suffolk in the recent past.
