Double spread cover for Walt Disney's Disneyland comic series No. 17 January 1st [1972]. [The True Blues and The Dirty Yellows Playing Silly Soccer]

N.p.,: , 1972. "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"The True Blues and The Dirty Yellows Playing Silly SoccerOriginal hand-painted artwork for the double spread cover of Walt Disney's Disneyland comic series No. 17 [January 1st 1972]. Gouache on artist board. Image size: 12 1/8 x 28 inches. In fine condition. Matted, framed and glazed. Together with a fine copy of Walt Disney's Disneyland comic series No. 17. The True Blue Team consists of Hippo, Ostrich, Cheetah, Elephant, and Kangaroo based on the Walt Disney film "Bedknobs and Broomsticks". Hippo landed on the Crocodile from the Dirty Yellow Team's tail, which caused his fake teeth to come out and chomp the Kangaroo's tail. After the Rhino from the Dirty Yellow Team dragged his horn into the Hippo's rear, the Hippo yelped in pain and accidentally swallowed the ball, thus forcing the Lion King and the Rhino to kick his belly to let the ball out. After the Crocodile tripped the Hippo with his tail, the Hippo spat out the ball and the game continued. (Disney.Wikia.com)."Hello, boys and girls! Do you recognize all the movie stars on our cover this week? They aren't my old buddies, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Bambi, Pinocchio or the Seven Dwarfs. These are a new bunch of buddies - the soccer players from "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." Maybe you already know them - if you've seen the movie you'll never forget them. They're playing the game with seven soccer balls, which is more than usual. But when the True Blues and the Dirty Yellows get together, anything can happen. Beginning in this issue, the story of their crazy mixed-up soccer game will be featured, and it will continue all summer. Be sure to get every single issue, and you'll know how soccer is played by Harry Hyena, Oscar Ostrich, Charlie Cheetah, Walt Warthog, King Lion and the others. There are extra goodies in the picture. Hidden in the cover are three extra soccer balls and three referee's whistles. Can you find them? Your friend, Mickey Mouse." (Disneyland Magazine... for Beginning Readers.).

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1st edition, 2nd state, 1964) and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator (1st edition, 1972)

New York: Knopf, 1972. First printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. First edition, 2nd state, with 5-line colophon for 'Charlie' and stated First Edition for 'Elevator.' 1964 and 1972. 'Charlie' is a near fine copy in a very good first state dust jacket: the book is bound in full red cloth, mustard end papers, Oompa-Loompas distinctly black or African in appearance (made 'whiter' in later editions), dust jacket has NO ISBN and 3.95 price. Book has an inscription on flyleaf, 'To Dougie on your eighth birthday, Love, Aunt Peg.' The book is otherwise about fine, crisp and bright, the dust jacket has a very short (4/5 inch) closed tear to top of front panel, minor age toning to the predominantly white surface, slightest tiredness and most minor shelfwear to spine ends, bit of soil to corners and tips, altogether a very good, superior copy of the jacket and the book. 'Elevator' is a near fine unmarked copy in VG plus dust jacket with just a touch of wear and creasing. The recipient, 'Dougie' was a spiteful, pickle-faced child, prone to throwing steak knives at rabbits and squirrels who ventured on to the lawn of his family's squat, sooty house on the outskirts of Washington, Pennsylvania; he grew up to become a data-entry 'specialist' for a nationwide corporation that specialized in insuring low income homeowner mortgages. Aunt Peg, who gave him the first book, did not give him the second book, as she had met her demise the year before its publication at the hands of an enraged Amish gazebo manufacturer.
