        Children the Year Round (Doreki)

Tokyo: Chuo-Koronsha, 1971. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. This is a first edition, first printing of Children the Year Round (Doreki) by Shoji Ueda published by Chuo-Koronsha, Tokyo, in 1971 as part of the Eizo no Gendai (The Present of Images) Series this being title number 3. Ueda is considered by many to be the leading figure of the Subjective Movement in post-war Japanese photography that emphasized an alternative to realism that dominated pre-war Japanese photography. In her Japanese photography reference work, The History of Japanese Photography, Anne Wilkes Tucker wrote, The subjective, dreamlike quality of Ueda\'s work, as well as its subtle humor, went against the grain of the dominant trend toward documentary photography in Japan following the war. In 1971, a solo exhibition at the Pentax Gallery, Tokyo, Children the Year Round featured his work in Tottori Prefecture; Ueda depicted the children of the area in the natural environment, in each season of the year. Containing 96 black-and-white photographs and measuring approximately 10.5 inches x 8.5 inches, the book is bound in white laminated paper covered boards with a printed dust jacket sans obi. The dust jacket is protected with a mylar covering. The condition of the book is FINE. The dust jacket is in Very Good condition with sunning to the front cover and spine with minor wear to the tips and spine edges.

        Zock. aspekte einer totalrevolution. 66/71.

Franz Knödel,, München, 1971 - München, Franz Knödel, 1971. 8°. 46 S. Illustr. OHeft. Eines von 1000 Exemplaren. Zeichnungen: Otto & Alfi. Fotos: Lisl & Klaus. - Ebd. etw. fleckig, kl. (Zitat) Deutsch [Attributes: Soft Cover]

The portfolio itself is housed in a protective vinyl envelope. Based on the size of the portfolio and the number of components, there are usually substantial condition issues with the portfolio. The prints are in fantastic condition and the images are fresh and crisp. One of the photographs has a small fingerprint mark on the lower right edge. The portfolio case has some minor rubs. The black title sheet in the portfolio has some minor soiling and the inside cardboard of the portfolio case has some print offset. The resealable vinyl protective covering has some sunburning, wrinkling, and tears. Overall, the portfolio is in excellent condition and is considered a superior example of this title that is quite scarce and rarely found complete.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

NY: Random House. (1971). Thompson\'s second book, epitomizing the \"Gonzo journalism\" that the author invented and which, by a surprisingly universal consensus, he elevated to the status of art. A classic of the freewheeling, drug-ingesting Sixties era, illustrated with hilarious and scary pen-and-ink drawings by Ralph Steadman. Basis for the 1998 Terry Gilliam movie, with Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro and Tobey Maguire. This copy belonged to the writer Geoffrey Wolff and bears his underlinings, marginal markings and a couple of comments. Edge-sunning to boards; near fine in a very good dust jacket with fading to the title lettering on the spine and slight edge wear. A writer\'s working copy for review. First Edition. Hardcover.
