Neil Armstrong Signed Apollo 11 Liftoff.

Image of the Saturn V rocket during the Apollo 11 during liftoff. Boldly signed on the image, "Neil Armstrong Apollo 11." In fine condition. The image measures 6 inches by 4 inches. Double matted and framed. The entire piece measures 12 inches by 13 inches. Rare and desirable signed by Neil Armstrong. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two humans on the Moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface six hours after landing on July 21 at 02:56:15 UTC; Aldrin joined him about 20 minutes later. They spent about two and a quarter hours together outside the spacecraft, and collected 47.5 pounds (21.5 kg) of lunar material to bring back to Earth. Michael Collins piloted the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon's surface. Armstrong and Aldrin spent just under a day on the lunar surface before rejoining Columbia in lunar orbit. Apollo 11 was launched by a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida, on July 16 at 9:32 am EDT (13:32 UTC) and was the fifth manned mission of NASA's Apollo program. The Apollo spacecraft had three parts: a command module (CM) with a cabin for the three astronauts, and the only part that landed back on Earth; a service module (SM), which supported the command module with propulsion, electrical power, oxygen, and water; and a lunar module (LM) that had two stages - a lower stage for landing on the Moon, and an upper stage to place the astronauts back into lunar orbit. After being sent toward the Moon by the Saturn V's upper stage, the astronauts separated the spacecraft from it and traveled for three days until they entered into lunar orbit. Armstrong and Aldrin then moved into the lunar module Eagle and landed in the Sea of Tranquility. They stayed a total of about 21.5 hours on the lunar surface. The astronauts used Eagle's upper stage to lift off from the lunar surface and rejoin Collins in the command module. They jettisoned Eagle before they performed the maneuvers that blasted them out of lunar orbit on a trajectory back to Earth. They returned to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24. The landing was broadcast on live TV to a worldwide audience. Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface and described the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind." Apollo 11 effectively ended the Space Race and fulfilled a national goal proposed in 1961 by U.S. President John F. Kennedy: "before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth."

Photograph of Buzz Aldrin standing on the moon with the American flag and the lunar module, signed by all three crew members: Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins

Color photograph (11 x 14 in.), original printed mount. Signatures lightly faded, some age-toning to mat, the photograph in fine condition. A CLASSIC SPACE PHOTOGRAPH, signed by the crew of Apollo 11, the first manned mission to the Moon: Neil Armstrong (commander), Buzz Aldrin (lunar module pilot), and Michael Collins (command module pilot). This photograph was prepared for presentation to the governor of each of the fifty states in conjunction with the tour of the Apollo 11 spacecraft and a lunar rock sample to be displayed in the state capital. This example does not bear the recipient's name and was evidently a spare prepared in case of loss or damage. The examples presented to the governors are presumably in state archival collections. This is a very scarce large-format print of one of the most famous photographs in the history of space exploration, taken by Neil Armstrong on July 21, 1969.

Photograph of a television screen, split, one side with Nixon on the phone and the other with Armstrong and Aldrin on moon

, 1969 THE MOST FAMOUS TELEPHONE CALL IN HISTORY. Gelatin silver print photograph. Approx 7 x 8 1/2 in, black and white. Signed by Nixon, Collins, Aldrin (adding "We came in peace for all mankind Apollo 11") and Armstrong ("To Claude Harkins with best wishes Neil Armstrong"). Soon after stepping onto the moon, Armstrong and Aldrin spoke with President Nixon by telephone in what Nixon called "the most historic phone call ever made from the White House." In his diary Nixon wrote, "The President held an interplanetary conversation with Apollo 11 Astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin on the Moon." The split television screen image was broadcast by the television networks. Nixon's chief of staff H. R. Haldeman noted that the president was elated by the moon landing, "clapped and shouted 'Hooray'" when Armstrong stepped on the moon's surface, and wrote his own remarks for the event. The following day Nixon reinstated his ban on the New York Times, "mainly due to Moon TV editorial which was uncalled for. The editorial berated the president for sharing the stage with the astronauts and wasting their precious time with his direct link conversation" (Haldeman Diaries).

        Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

New York: Maecenas Press, Random House,, 1969. Twelve illustrations with original woodcuts and an original etching. Folio. Publisher's fall-down-back box of brown straight-grain quarter morocco, cloth sides, leather-and-horn ties, portfolio of letterpress and illustrations loose in the brown cloth chemise, as issued. Etching printed in sepia, green and black, plates in colour. A fine copy, notably with the fragile leather-and-horn ties intact. First Dalí edition, number 830 of 2,500 copies signed by Dalí on the title page, and printed on Mandeure paper. "The artist Salvador Dalí, famous for his surreal images of melting clocks and barren landscapes, at first glance might not seem to have much in common with a retiring Victorian English don who wrote children's books. But actually, Dalí and Carroll had much in common: both men were ardent explorers of dreams and the imagination, attempting in their art to show the fertile pathways to the unconscious. This artistic temperament might explain why, in his sixties, Dalí created twelve surreal illustrations – one for each chapter – for Alice in Wonderland. Because he required a rich, lush palette for his painted drawings, Dalí turned to the oldest process for reproducing photographic images for printing: heliogravure. Similar to engraving, the method is time consuming and costly. Each heliogravure is printed by hand and considered an original" (Catherine Nichols, Alice's Wonderland: a Visual Journey through Lewis Carroll's Mad, Mad World, 2014, p. 28).

        The Black Book

Brussels: Herman Daled, 1969. First edition. Loose Sheets. Near Fine. Large delicate single sheet of very thin black tissue paper with tiny print in gold in the middle of the sheet. The sheet measures 19 1/4" tall x 14 1/4" wide. An artist "book" created by Byars in 1969. The text which is almost unreadable due to the tiny size consists of one hundred questions. The sheet was maintained rolled for some time and was only distributed at a performance in 1971 to guests at Foret de Soignes near Brussels, Belgium in February 22, 1971. This example has been laid flat now for some time and there is only minor evidence remaining of any creases from having been folded or rolled in the past. Incredibly fragile, this item will require additional shipping charges to protect it in the mailing process.
