[Moïse sauvé des eaux] Then the daughter of Pharaoh opened the arke, and saw it was a childe (Et la fille du Pharaon ouvrit l'arche et vit que c'était un enfant) - The Story of Exodus

      - AMIEL Léon, Paris, New-York 1966, 36x49.5cm, une feuille. - Litografia originale a colori stampate su carta giapponese imperiale. (Pierre Cabanne, in Cinquante années de lithographie).

Every Building on the Sunset Strip

Ed Ruscha, Los Angeles 1966 - First edition. First Printing of 1,000 copies with the extra two inch flap at the end. A very good copy in white printed wraps with some darkening to the spine; foil covered slipcase is lightly worn with a few small splits, else very good. Housed in a custom made quarter leather over blac cloth clamshell box. Ed Ruscha: Editions 1959-1999, B4. Roth pages 182-185. Open Book pages 198-201. Parr and Badger Volume Two, 142-3. Architect Peter Hoyt's copy with his ownership signature on the inside. Peter Hoyt was part of the Learning from Las Vegas team that studied under Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown and eventually produced one of the most important and controversial books of architectural theory published in the twentieth century. When the team went to Las Vegas in the fall of 1968, they flew first to Los Angeles and met with Ed Ruscha along with many other LA notables by way of Esther McCoy. The Venturis felt that the way Ruscha was looking at the LA landscape would be helpful in their understanding of the Las Vegas strip. They even hired a helicopter to photograph Las Vegas from the air, looking at patterns of use in much the same manner as Ruscha approached photographing Los Angeles. Ruscha's books on gas stations, parking lots and other spaces were very important influences on the visual aspects of the Learning From Las Vegas study.

Magick Lantern Cycle (Original film program for the Spring Equinox 1966 screening)

New York: Film-makers' Cinematheque, 1966. Original film program for the 1966 screening of six Kenneth Anger films, being shown on the Spring Equinox (March 21, 1966). Screened at Jonas Mekas's Film-maker's Cinematheque coopperative theater, then located at 125 West 41st Street in New York. Films at the screening included "Kustom Kar Kommandos," "Fireworks," "Scorpio Rising," "Eaux d'artifice," and a prelude entitled "Anger Aquarian Arcanum." Also included was the premiere screening of the "Sacred Mushroom Edition" of his film "Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome," which condensed an earlier three-screen edition of the film into a single, superimposed image. In hip late-1960s fashion, the program includes specific instructions for "psychedelic researchers" who wished to view the film as it was fully intended: "in that Holy Trance called High."Anger, one of the most significant filmmakers to come out of the American avant-garde in the mid-1960s, was born in Southern California and began making films when he was only ten years old. His work often prominently featured homosexual themes, and his career-long fascination with the mystical and magical is prominently on display in the "Magick Lantern Cycle" as well. The Film-maker's Cinemantheque, co-founded by Jonas Mekas in 1962, would offer a home, albeit with an oft-shifting location, to avant-garde New York filmmakers, and would later grow to become the Anthology Film Archives, one of the world's largest and most important repositories of avant-garde film. Black, white, and day-glo orange card wrappers, printed in black and white on purple, blue, red, and white stock throughout. 8.5 x 11 inches (22 x 28 cm), nine pages, saddle-stitched with plastic spine protector as issued. Very Good plus, with a reading crease to the front wrapper, a single unobtrusive ink notation of an arrow on one of the pages.

An original production cel from the MGM animation Dr Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. "You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch. You're a nasty wasty skunk. Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk. MR. GRINCH!"

MGM, 1966 - Original hand painted production 2 cel setup: the image of the Grinch measuring 135 x 195 mm. Production marks and sequence numbers to lower edge of cel (below mount). On a print background for presentation purposes, with authentication seal and estate plate signature of Chuck Jones to front of cel. Mounted, glazed and framed (overall size 390 x 440 mm). In excellent condition. Originally broadcast by CBS on 18 December 1966, How the Grinch Stole Christmas became a perennial feature of US festive season television - the position occupied by Raymond Briggs's The Snowman for British audiences. Superbly voiced by Boris Karloff and with ear-catching music by Albert Hague and Eugene Poddany, it was Chuck Jones's inspired direction that turned Seuss's updating of the Scrooge story into a small screen classic. The scene, featured around the 18:30 mark in the film, depicts the Grinch in his Santa costume, stealing the Who's ice cubes. [Attributes: First Edition]

Fantastic Voyage (Original screenplay for the 1966 film)

Twentieth Century-Fox, Los Angeles 1966 - Final Script for the 1966 film, "Fantastic Voyage," directed by Richard Fleischer, written for the screen by Harry Kleiner, and starring Raquel Welch, Edmond O'Brien, and Donald Pleasance. One of the seminal science fiction films of the 1960s, novelized the same year by Isaac Asimov and published by Houghton Mifflin. Stephen Boyd heads a team of scientists sent on a bizarre experimental mission in which, through a revolutionary and as-yet untested process, the scientists and their special motorized vehicle are miniaturized and then injected into the blood stream of a scientist who is near death. Their mission is to relieve a blood clot caused by an assassination attempt. The film's Oscar-winning visual effects (by Art Cruikschank) chart the progress of the voyagers through the scientist's body, burrowing past deadly antibodies, chunks of tobacco residue in the lungs, and other obstacles. Oscars also went to Jack Martin Smith and Dale Hennesy's art direction and Walter M. Scott and Stuart A. Reiss' set decoration.
