[Attributes: Hard Cover]

THE HOUSE AT POOH CORNER. [ Leather bound in the Original Box].

Methuen & Co. Ltd., London 1928 - A Fine hardback First Edition DELUXE LEATHER BOUND EDITION with bright gilt decorations and lettering. Minimal rubbing to spine tips. All edges gilt. Bright and unmarked. In the original box with original printed paste on labels on top box top and one edge, as issued. Box top, label soiled. Sm. 8vo. xi, 178 pp. In October 1928, "The House at Pooh Corner" was published in both London and New York, to unanimously rapturous reviews. Everyone had been told that it was to be the last book about Christopher Robin and his friends in the Enchanted Forest. From Milne's point of view, it seemed a good idea to finish on a high note, before anyone had a chance to weary of the characters. There was also the growing need to protect the real Christopher Robin, if possible, from the relentless glare of publicity.A review of "The House at Pooh Corner" in Punch remarked wistfully" :It is too bad Christopher Robin has to grow up." The warning bell had sounded. ( Book Magazine Collector, Sept. 1995, p. 10). [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
