Harper & Brothers 1839 - 2 vols., 12mo., 1/2 red leather over marbled bds. Gold stamped black leather spine labels. Bindings clean and tight with very slight wear to corners. Outer eps. new, while inner eps. are original, soiled and chipped. Title pg. of each volume has some foxing and soiling, and there is scattered foxing to both vols., not too severe and not interfering with legibility of text. Each title pg. bears the faded pink stamp of the New York Mercantile Library. In addn., each title pg. bears a 1cm. round lt. blue paper tag with the letter "R." Vol. 1 has a 1/2 in. wide horizontal tide mark affecting the very top edge of the first 41 pages, not affecting text, pg. 191/192 of Vol.I has a small defect mid-pg.affecting a few words of text; Vol.I-324pp., Vol.II-247pp. with several lines of commentary in pencil after text.
