'Canton? etching by Mortimer Menpes - MENPES, Mortimer - 1915. 
Single Sheet. Very Good. Mertimer Menpes. Mortimer Menpes etching and drypoint printed on Menpes personal hand made paper and signed in pencil to the lower right margin. The sheet has overall soft handling folds, generally in good condition with no foxing but paper, I think, has discoloured with age. Not dated but circa 1915/16Plate Size 150 x 277 mm (5.75 x 10.75 inches approx.)Sheet size 275 x 395 mm (11 x 14.5 inches approx)Guangzhou historically romanised as Canton, is the capital and largest city of Guangdong Province in southeastern China. Guangzhou is a sprawling port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River. Menpes traveled greatly and visited China & Shanghai, producing enough sketches and watercolours to produce a book, text by H.A.Blake, published by A & C Black in 1909.
