Each volume has the bookplate designed by A.N. Macdonald for Catherine Anita Bliss of New York's social elite who was a major benefactor of religious and social groups as was her hero, William Hepworth Dixon. A very handsome set bound by Zaehnsdorf in 3/4 dark blue crushed morocco over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands with compartments fully decorated and lettered in gilt, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Only minor bumping to a few corners.
