Paulus Manutius, Venetiis 1554 - Fine half-morocco binding, gilt ruled, marbled boards. Five raised bands, gilt-ruled compartments with decorative tooling, title, author, place of publication and date to spine in gilt. Minor wear to extremities, as usual. Marbled endpapers, with about a 5cm loss to the front pastedown missing after a sticker was removed. All edges red. One flyleaf with a watermark (of a bunch of grapes?). With Manutius`s dolphin and anchor to title and last page. Faint stains also to title. Very slight occasional foxing. Some underlining and marginal notes. Date on title page 1554. Date in back 1555. A book on Cicero by Paulus Manutius. Paulus was the son of the great printer Aldus Manutius, the founder of the Aldine Press in Venice and the creator of the italic type. Title: `M. Tullii Ciceronis Epistolae ad Atticum, ad M. Brutum, ad Quintum Fratrem, cum correctionibus Pauli Manutii`. Includes M. Tullii Ciceronis Epistolae ad T. Pomponium Atticum [Liber I-XVI]; T. Pomponii Attici Vita per Cornelium Nepotem; M. Tullii Ciceronis Epistolarum ad Brutum; M. Tullii Ciceronis Epistolarum ad Q. Fratrem [Liber I-III]; Ad Octavium Epistola; Graeca Latinis Expressa.
