Frideswide Rowland was the first first woman to win a prize in a composing competition in 1882. This volume, co-authored with her Irish chess-player husband, contains 51 two-move problems, 16 three-move problems, and 1 self-mates as well as anecdotes, poetry. Solutions in back. Previous owner's signature on ffep. Extremities bumped, light discoloration to cloth on rear board, some very light mottling to endpapers. Contents else fine. Betts, 33-73.
