TYPED LETTER SIGNED FROM ROALD DAHL TO HIS - Dahl, Road; Quentin Blake; Rayner U - 1982.
Unpublished. 19th October 1982.. A single page typed letter, written by Roald Dahl on Gipsy House, Great Missenden letterhead, to the head of George Allen and Unwin publishers Rayner Unwin. With fantastic content: Dahl writes that he has never been really happy with the illustrations in ?the Charlie books? and it would be ?a pretty exciting thing to see what Quentin Blake would do with them. Have a look, for example, at my new one ?The BFG? which came out last week where I think he has done a lovely job.? Dahl continues with regards to the flat fee for illustrating The BFG before noting, ?I have become good friends with him and he is a very nice fellow to work with.? In the next paragraph Dahl offers a mouth-watering hint: ?There is a beginning of ?Charlie in the White House? and one day I rather hope that I will get round to finishing it...? Signed ?Roald? in black ink. The letter is in very good condition, with three horizontal folds. An exceptional letter in respect of both content and association. Provenance: Rayner Unwin; thence by descent to Merlin Unwin. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
