As perhaps the leading historical proponent of two important normative traditions""utilitarianism and liberalism""Mill occupies an unusually important position in the history of western moral and political philosophy" (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). This key collection brings together, in book form for the first time, 24 major works from the 1830s to 1850s.
