WM. M. Bradley & Bro. Philadelphia. 1889. - Some 52 maps (tipped-in), handcolored, marbled endpapers, 19 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches, hardbound with FRONT COVER & SPINE LEATHER MISSING. MISSING 18 MAPS: plate 1 - North Polar Charts, 2 - Hemispheres, 4 - Europe, 7 - Ireland, 24 - Palestine, 27 - Africa, 28 - Southern Africa, 29 - Egypt, Arabia Petraea & Lower Nubia, 48 Minnesota, 50 - Kansas, 52 - Manitoba, 53 - Wyoming, 54 - Washington/Oregon, 55 - California, 57 - Arizona/New Mexico, 58 - Colorado, 59 - Missouri, & 68 - Texas. Overall the condition of the maps is very good with occasional light scattered foxing (mainly to first and last few pages), small blue pencil notation to plate 3 Chart of the World and plate 38 MA, CT; a few plates soiled (mainly in outer margins), plate of Massachusetts (not numbered) is soiled and with a split at lower centrefold. Incomplete as an atlas, but a collection of attractive maps from the last years of handcolored atlas maps. There are some 46 double page maps (all tipped in), and 6 double page maps with two separate maps with a decorative border division. On a double sheet with New Jersey (with shared central decorative border) is a most uncommon separate map of Long Island. Other interesting maps include a "United States Railroad Map, Showing Through Lines of Communication from the Atlantic to Pacific, Together with the Various Steamship Lines Along the Seaboard." The Massachusetts/Connecticut maps are the most used. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
