Constable, London 1936 - Red boards with black titles to spine, with some foxing to front and back. Some rubbing to edges. D/w has discoloured through handling and is price-clipped, edge worn and has small tears to top and bottom of spine with slight loss, also at corners. There is a stain around the top of the spine where tape has been used. Inside of boards are foxed, otherwise, inside is clean and tight. Text block edges are also foxed. 307pp + ads. Dawn Powell was rediscovered and hailed by Gore Vidal as one of America's greatest satirists and this is a very scarce copy of a 1st edition, particularly with a (almost) complete dust wrapper.
