Nexus Press, 1980. Signed, Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+ binding. Signed by Polk. Folio. Significant monograph of the work of P. J. Polk, one of the most important African-American photographers of the last century. Born into a working class black family in Alabama in 1898, he studied photography at Tuskegee under C. M Battey, as well as studying through a correspondence course. After a brief stint as a portrait photographer in Atlanta in the '30's, he returned to become the official photographer at the Tuskegee Institute where he remained for nearly fifty years. This is #1134 if 1200 copies, signed by Polk. Case has a bit of quite light sunning, as does the spine. Very Good+ binding.
