1948 - London: George Philip & Sons, 1948. Colour lithograph, dissected and laid on linen as issued, brass hanging rings. Total 1190 x 1840mm. A very fine example. A huge map of the world with the British Empire in red and its protectorates in pink, The possessions and protectorates of France, Italy (although Libya, Somalia and Eritrea were all under British control at the time), Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States are also shown. Across the seas are lines marking the shipping routes and communication cables laid by the British.
