Skupina Ra was a group of painters, graphic artists, photographers, poets, writers, and translators that became active in the late 1930s, continued to exist illegally during the German Protectorate, and held public exhibits in the late 1940s before being banned by the Czech Communist goverment in 1948 as a hostile movement. Its core members included Zden k Lorenc, LudvÃk Kundera, Josef Istler, Miloš Ko e ek, Bohdan Lacina, Vilém Reichmann, Václav Tikal, and Václav Zykmund. Although Surrealism was forbidden by both the Fascist Protectorate and the Communist goverment, it was a strong influence in Czech post-war art and literature. As of November 2016, most titles appear to be held by very few North American institutions or not at all.
