Tape repair to bottom of foldout panel of frontis map in Vol. I, which is a three-color map of the major powers' possessions in 1745. Frontis map to Vol. 2 is a four-color fold-out of Texas in 1836. Vol. I, 567 pp., Vol. II, 595 pp. Thorough history of settlement of the Ohio and Mississippi valleys, culture of the settlers, government, Indian wars, etc. from Western Pennsylvania and Apppalachians to Great Lakes areas to New Orleans, with a section on Texas.
