The Months of Japanese Children for 1906 - - 1905.
Tokyo: T. Hasegawa, 1905. First Edition. Ribbon tie on corner. . Very Good. Scarce Hasegawa crepe paper juvenile calendar book, with no copies located on OCLC First Search and not in Sharf. 13.5 cm square. 7 leaves of crepe paper, or 14 pp. Bright colored illustrations on every page, depicting with each month generally with some quintessential activity or venue loosely associated with the time of year: New Year's Holidays, preparing for examinations, spring vacation, school girl's exercise, the Festival of Flags, gold fish, a rice field, morning-glories for sale, insect hunting, a fishing boat, autumnal tints at Uyeno Park and imitating needle work. Some of these scenes may not appear to be so integrally tied to a particular month, but regardless, all the illustrations highlight children, their energy, curiosity, and zest for life. Light wear at edges. Color very bright, and overall a very handsome copy of a rarity.
