Plan von Moskau nach der neuesten russischen - SCHLEICH, [C.S. Jnr. and Johan Ka - 1812.
Königlichen Beschäftigungsanstalt am Anger Munchen 1812 - Hand-coloured lithographed broadsheet plan (98 x 91.5 cm), printed on four sheets, table of Moscow districts lower right, rolled in original cardboard tube. With explanation of the plan of Moscow in Russian, French and German (19.7 x 11.7 cm), 40 pp. Very fresh example of this incunable of lithography with the extremely rare "Explication du Plan de Moscou". One of the earliest lithographic plans of the city, interestingly printed in Bavaria shortly before the invasion of Russia in 1812. Since this Catholic state was then already under Napoleonic rule, the plan was printed in French for the conquerors coming to Moscow with Napoleon. The accompanying booklet lists in Russian, French and German more than 300 sites indicated on the plan, including governmental buildings, barracks, food warehouses, as well as gateways and bridges. The result is a clear picture of the municipal, military and strategic infrastructure of the city immediately before the destruction by the "Fire of Moscow". WorldCat locates only three copies of the plan in public libraries: in Cambridge University library, University Library LMU in Munich and Bavarian State Library.
