"We set to work in a spirit of loyalty, optimism, initiative and perseverance, not forgetting a dose of good humor". Together we worked out complete plans of cities from their perspectives in elevation down to the smallest practical details" (Avery, 227). "The most powerful and eloquent architect of the 20th century, Le Corbusier wielded an even greater influence through his forceful theories than through his executed designs. He is unusual among architects in that his detailed theory preceded his practice" (Kruft, 396). Comprises seven issues of the French quarterly L'Architecture vivante, the complete run of issues dedicated to the work of Le Corbusier and Jeanneret: Première serie, automne 1927, 25 plates, five in color; Deuxième serie, printemps-ete 1929 (double issue), 50 plates, two in color; Troisième serie, printemps 1930, 25 planches, one in color; Quatrième serie, featuring "La Ville radieuse," ete 1931, 25 plates; Cinquième serie, automne 1932, 25 plates; 6e serie, hiver 1933, 24 plates; 7e serie, "Extrait de l'Encyclopedie de l'architecture," 27 plates. Complete with 201 plates (each volume contains 25 plates, except for volume 2, which contains 50, volume 6 which contains 24 and volume 7 which contains 27, all as issued). Text in French.
